The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between intolerance of uncertainty, experiential avoidance and competitive trait anxiety. In order to achieve this purpose, a questionnaire survey was conducted with 232 college athletes in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do areas. For data analysis, SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 18.0 program was operated, and analyzed such as EFA, Cronbach' α, CFA, correlation analysis and structural equation modeling analysis were implemented to achieve the study aims. The following conclusions were obtained. First, the correlation between intolerance of uncertainty, experiential avoidance and competitive trait anxiety showed positive at significant level between each sub-factor. Second, this study result showed direct effect on competitive trait anxiety by intolerance of uncertainty. And it mediates experiential avoidance to indirectly affect competitive trait anxiety. Third,, this study revealed the detailed process between intolerance of uncertainty and competitive trait anxiety by identifying the role of experiential avoidance in competitive trait anxiety. This result suggest importance of dealing with experiential avoidance in reduce the competitive trait anxiety. Finally, implications and limitations of the current study and the suggestions for future research were discussed.

이 연구는 불확실성에 대한 인내력 부족이 경쟁특성불안에 영향을 미치는 기제에서 경험적 회피의 매개효과를 검증하였다. 이를 위해 2016년 대한 체육회에 운동선수로 등록되어 있으며, 서울시와 경기도 지역에 위치한 대학교 운 동선수 232명을 대상으로 불확실성에 대한 인내력 부족이 경험적 회피를 매개로 하여 경쟁특성불안에 영향을 미칠 것 이라 가정하고 구조방정식 모형을 통해 분석하였다. 그 결과, 각 변인 간 유의한 정적 상관이 나타났으며, 불확실성에 대한 인내력 부족이 경쟁특성불안을 유의하게 예측하는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 불확실성에 대한 인내력 부족이 경쟁 특성불안으로 가는 직접효과와 경험적 회피의 매개효과를 가지는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 이 연구는 경쟁특성불안에 대한 경 험적 회피의 역할을 확인함으로써 불확실성에 대한 인내력 부족이 경쟁특성불안에 이르는 과정을 세부적으로 밝혔다. 이 연구의 결과들은 불확실성에 대한 인내력이 부족한 사람들의 경쟁특성불안에 대한 대처에서 경험적 회피에 대해 다 루는 것의 중요성을 시사하며, 연구의 제한점과 향후, 연구방향을 제시하였다.
