This study purposes on developing the affordances of Braille music for the MVI(Musicians with Visual Impariment) under the theoretical framework of semiotics. Under the purpose, this study firstly reviews the backgrounds of the development of (literary and music) Braille and the literature on the theory and practices of Braille in music education. Then, this study identifies the current contradicting issues on Braille and discusses the problems that Braille music is embedded in. Finally, this study suggests the key notions and criteria for revising Braille music from the seminal concept, affordance: the three elements of Braille music affordance, i.e. mediational means, appropriation, mastery, and the three criteria, i.e., adaptability, learnability, availability. Based on this semiotic framework of Braille music, further studies will be forstered on the redeveloping the structure and practices of Braille music education.

본고는 점자악보의 활용가능성을 높이기 위한 향후 연구의 이론적 토대를 다지기 위해 기호학이론을 중심으로 핵심개념들을 추출하고, 그 개념들을 바탕으로 점자악보 개선을 위한 연구의 틀을 제시하고자 한 것이다. 이를 위해 본고는 우선 점자의 개 발 배경과 관련 연구의 현황을 소개하고, 점자와 관련하여 어떤 논란점들이 있는지 정리하였다. 이어서 점자악보의 특징과 한 계를 분석함으로써 점자악보의 문제점과 개선방안을 검토하였다. 마지막으로 점자 악보 개선을 위해 기호학적 이론을 바탕으 로 접근성(affordance)의 개념을 제시하고, 그 핵심적 요소 세 가지(매개적 수단, 전 유, 숙달)와 접근성의 판단 기준 세 가지 (적용가능성, 학습가능성, 유효성)를 바탕 으로 향후 구체적인 점자악보의 개선을 위 한 연구의 과제들을 제시하였다. 본 연구 가 시도한 점자악보에 대한 이론적 토대화 를 바탕으로 앞으로 점자악보의 개선을 위 한 음악교육, 특수교육, 교육공학 분야의 통합적 연구가 촉발될 수 있을 것이다.
