The Ministry of land, infrastructure and transport evaluates quantitatively a relative construction ability and publishes the estimate value of construction ability evaluation on July every year. The paper analyzes the relevance of estimation value of construction ability and the firm value estimated by residual income model(RIM). The results are summerized as follows; First, we found that the estimate value of construction ability evaluation was positively associated with the firm value significant at 1 percent level. This result suggests that the estimate value of construction ability evaluation is a useful variable for firm value in construction industry. Second, we found that the coefficient of estimate value of construction ability evaluation and listing status was negatively associated with the firm value significant at 1 percent level. Because there are many unlisted firms in construction industry and information users have not enough reliable information on firm value, the estimate value of construction ability evaluation is more useful variable. Consequently these empirical results show that the estimate value of construction ability evaluation is important in construction industry.

매년 7월 국토교통부에서는 건설업자의 상대적인 공사수행 역량을 정량적으로 평가하여 시공능력평가액을 발표하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 시공능력평가액이 기업가치 관련정보로서 의미가 있는지 분석하고자 한다. 구체적으로 초과이익평가모형(RIM)을 이용하여 기업가치를 측정하였고, 2011년부터 2015년 사이 발표된 시공능력평가액을 이용하여 분석을 수행하였다. 회귀분석결과 시공능력평가액이 기업가치와 통계적으로 유의한 양의 계수값을 보였다. 이는 시공능력평가액이 기업가치를 설명하는 변수로 사용될 수 있음을 의미하는 결과이다. 즉 건설업의 경우 비상장된 기업이 많고 상대적으로 다른 업종에 비해 신뢰할 수 있는 정보가 부족한 상황에서 매년 공시되는 시공능력평가액이 기업을 대표할 수 있는 정보로 의미가 있다고 할 수 있을 것이다. 또한 상장여부 및 시공능력평가순위에 따라 시공능력평가액의 정보효과에 차이가 있는지를 검증한 결과, 통계적으로 1% 수준에서 유의하게 음(-)의 관련성을 갖는 결과를 보였다. 이는 비상장기업(외감법인)의 시공능력평가액이 유가증권시장이나 코스닥 시장에 상장된 기업의 시공능력평가액에 비해 기업가치를 설명하는 변수로서 더욱 적합하다는 것을 의미하는 결과이다. 추가적으로 시공능력평가액의 구성요소별 기업가치관련성에 대해 검증한 결과 시공능력평가액의 구성요소 중 경영실적평가액과 기술능력평가액만 기업가치와 관련성이 있다는 결과를 보였다. 따라서 앞으로 시공능력평가액의 구성요소인 공사실적평가액과 신인도평가액의 경우 관련된 지표 및 평가액 산정방법상의 수정이 필요할 것으로 사료된다. 본 연구는 시공능력평가액과 관련된 연구가 많지 않은 상황에서 기업가치와 시공능력평가액의 관련성을 검토함으로써 정보이용자들에게 건설업 관련정보로서 시공능력평가액이 의미 있는 정보이며, 기업규모가 적은 기업들의 경우 더욱 유용한 정보임을 발견하였다는데 의의가 있다.
