This study seeks to construct the universal concept of locality in architectures of Jeju, by tracking and analysing how the locality of Itami Jun’s architectures in Jeju manifested itself in works of other architects. For this, this research reveals how Ando Tadao put the concept of locality in his architectures by analysing three works in Jeju, which designed by Ando Tadao. The meanings in the locality constructed by Itami Jun was also analysed over five times of site survey and building site analysis in related concepts. The analysis in the Ando Tadao architectures of Jeju is significant in fact that his concept and architectural visualization is widely credited. In result, along as Itami Jun, the locality he realized turned up as the form of superimposed and valued locality, not just in forms of meanings and phenomenons. Superimposed locality stands for architectural meanings and the locality-implemented phenomenon, and valued locality means unique value which has implemented in the respect and consideration in the critical aspects of special areas such as the original landscape of Jeju.

본 연구는 제주건축의 지역성 논의의 연장선 상에서 제주의 이타미 준 건축에 나타난 지역성의 개념들이 제주지역에 있는 다른 건축가의 작품에도 어떻게 발현되는지를 추적하여, 제주건축의 지역성에 대한 보편적 개념틀을 구축하고자 한다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 일본 건축가 안도 다다오가 제주에 남긴 건축을 통해 그가 제주의 지역성을 어떻게 건축에 담고 있는지를 살펴보고자 한다. 이를 위해 안도 다다오가 제주에 남긴 세 개의 건축물을 분석하였다. 또한 2009년부터 현재까지 5회 이상의 현장답사와 현장분석을 진행하였고 이를 통해 이타미 준이 구현한 지역성의 의미를 분석하였다. 안도 다다오의 지역성에 대한 사유와 건축적 표현이 세계적으로 인정받고 있다는 점에서 그가 남긴 제주건축에서 지역성에 대한 유의미한 분석과 결과를 찾을 수 있었다. 그 결과, 이타미 준과 마찬가지로 그가 구현한 지역성은 의미와 현상이 아닌 중합적 지역성과 가치적 지역성으로 나타났다. 중합적 지역성은 건축의 의미와 현상이 복합적으로 구현된 지역성을 뜻하고, 가치적 지역성은 제주의 고유 풍경처럼 그 지역만 가지고 있는 고유 가치에 대한 존중과 배려를 통해 구현된 지역성이었다.
