The mobile society arrived after the development of PC and witnessed the sharing of various pieces of information in vast amounts beyond space and place limitations. There are many applications to suit diverse purposes in the mobile world thanks to the spread of smartphone. This study set out to explain congruence between the mobile app icons of portal sites with many users from the old PC realm and similar family app icons. For that purpose, the investigator selected six portal sites according to the user share in and outside South Korea. Five to ten apps were chosen for each brand among the ones they served at App Store in 2016. Their app icons were then analyzed according to four design elements. Based on the basic analysis of each component and app icon, the investigator assessed whether they had congruence as family apps. In addition, a survey was conducted with users to reach conclusions. Those processes led to the classification and assortment of icons by the types and to the proposal of user preference and directionality for app icons to be designed. The findings will hopefully contribute to communication with users.

PC의 발전 이후 모바일 사회가 도래했다. 모바일 사회에서는 공간․장소의 제약을 탈피하면서 다양하고 방대한 정보의 양이 공유되기 시작했다. 스마트폰의 보급화로 인하여 지금 모바일에서는 다양한 목적을 가진 어플리케이션들이 존재한다. 그 중 기존에 PC에서 이용자들이 많은 포털사이트의 모바일 앱 아이콘과 그와 유사한 패밀리 앱(Family app) 아이콘의 일치성에 대해 설명하고자 한다. 대한민국 기준 국내․외 이용자 점유율에 따라 포털사이트 6개를 선정하였다. 2016 기준 현재 앱 스토어에서 서비스되어지고 있는 각 브랜드의 앱의 아이콘을 디자인적 요소 4가지를 기준으로 분석하였다. 각 구성요소와 App icon의 기본적인 분석을 바탕으로 패밀리 앱으로서의 일치가 되는지에 대해 평가하고 이용자들에게 설문을 통하여 결론을 도출하였다. 이러한 과정을 통해 Icon의 유형 별로 분류․정리하여 사용자의 선호도와 향후 디자인 되어질 App Icon에 방향성을 제시하여 사용자와의 커뮤니케이션에 도움이 되길 바란다.
