The aim of this study is to understand social and cultural implication of Youth Fandom by analyzing Fandom culture of idol stars. Fandom activities were analyzed according to Fiske's frame - distinction, production and participation and cultural practice. For this purpose, the qualitative in-depth interviews were conducted with 12 practitioners. The content were analyzed as 7 theme, 36 sub themes. As a results, youth fans were started fandom activities with various affective factors, divided boarder between in and outside of fandom community through distinction. Also, youth fans participated in Fandom group activities and felt sense of belonging and pride in fandom. Fandom group activities were life itself for youth.

본 연구는 문화적 실천의 주체로서 아이돌 팬인 10대 청소년들이 자신들을 어떻게 구별짓기하면서 팬덤의 정체성을 드러내는 지, 문화의 생산과 실천은 어떤 방식으로 구현하는지를 알아봄으로써, 청소년들의 팬덤활동이 가지는 사회문화적 의의를 살펴보고자 한다. 이를 위해 팬덤활동을 하고 있는 10대 청소년 12명을 대상으로 심층인터뷰를 실시하였고, 부호화 방법을 통해 의미단위들을 범주화하였다. 분석결과, 모두 292개로 묶여진 의미단위들을 분석하여 총 36개의 하위주제와 7개의 주제를 발견할 수 있었다. 청소년들은 다양한 입덕요인에 의해 치열한 팬질을 시작하게 되며, 차별화기제를 통해 팬덤 내외를 구별짓기하면서 공동체를 형성해 간다. 팬덤에 적극적으로 참여하면서 청소년들은 의미들을 생산해 내고 그 과정에서 팬덤의 일원으로서 소속감과 자부심을 느끼게 된다. 팬덤활동은 만족감과 보람을 느끼게 해주는 일상생활이며, 삶 자체이다.
