The purpose of this study is to find environmental characteristics not affording the juvenile crime prevention performance expected from CPTED(Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) guidelines. Data collected from Geographic Information System were analyzed after the selection of four schools showing high juvenile-crime rates. The analysis targets included composition of building and land uses, number of floors, number of entrances and their spatial relationship with public streets within school zones. Kernel Analysis was used to verify spatial relationships between individual environmental characteristics and crime occurrences. The study result found that use types of buildings and lands and the number of building floors affected juvenile crime occurrences in school zones. Finally, this study suggested the directions improving CPTED guidelines regarding juvenile crime prevention.

이 연구의 목적은 환경설계를 통한 범죄예방 가이드라인으로부터 기대되는 청소년 범죄 예방 성능을 수용하지 않는 환경 특성을 발견하는 것이다. 범죄 발생률이 높은 4개의 학교를 선정한 후에 지리 정보 시스템으로부터 수집된 데이터를 분석하였다. 분석의 대상은 건물과 토지의 용도, 건물의 층수, 출입구의 수 및 이들과 학교 주변 공공 가로와의 공간적 관계이다. 개별 환경 특성과 범죄 발생과의 공간적 관계를 확인하기 위해 커널 분석이 이용되었다. 연구의 결과는 건물과 토지의 용도와 층수가 청소년 범죄발생빈도에 영향을 미친다는 점을 발견하였다. 끝으로 이 연구는 청소년 범죄 예방을 위하여 셉테드 가이드라인을 개선하는 방향을 제안하였다.
