The purposes of this study are to analyse the research accomplishments and trends within the Korean Journal of Music Therapy from the first to current issue, and to understand the subjects of development for future issues of the journal. For this data gathered from 158 publications listed in journal issues from 1999 to August of 2016 were statistically processed through cross analysis. Types of data gathered for the study include: publication status, researcher, research type, topic, subject, research method, data analysis method and reference. Results show that number of publications are distributed equally among the journal issues and that most of the researches are conducted at universities in the metropolitan area. Overall the frequency of quantitative researches were greatly prevalent over qualitative researches but there were no specific trends within the annual publications. In decreasing order, effectiveness, musical aptitude and attitude, treatment process, research review, recognition/attitude, and vocational behaviors categories were the most frequently published topics. Adults were the most common research subjects, especially non-handicapped adults including music therapists and music therapy major students. Researches in areas concerning emotion, preference and awareness were shown to be more prevalent than researches from other areas of study. In the analysis of data processing methods, for quantitative studies variance analysis was most commonly used while phenomenological analysis was most common for qualitative studies. The results of kai-square test showed that both research contents and methods were dependant upon the research institution and that research contents were also dependant upon the subject, method, or area of study. This study shows that the Korean Journal of Music Therapy has been leading the scholastic contribution to the music therapy in Korea since its creation. For the further growth, future studies should concern subjects and contents appropriate to the identity of music therapy.

이 연구는 음악치료 영역의 대표 학술지인 ｢한국음악치료학회｣의 창간호부터 현재까지 게재된 논문들을 분석하여 음악치료 연구의 성과와 동향을 알아보고 향후 학회지의 발전 과제를 알아보기 위함이 목적이다. 이를 위해 1999년부터 2016년 8월까지 한국음악치료학회의 학회지에 게재된 총 158편의 논문에 대해 연구 발행 현황, 연구자, 연구 유형, 연구 내용, 연구 대상, 연구 방법, 데이터 분석 방법, 참고문헌 등에 따라 내용 분석 후 자료를 빈도와 교차분석으로 통계 처리 하였다. 그 결과, 창간호부터 최근에 이르기까지 꾸준히 고른 분포를 보이며 논문이 출간되는 경향을 보이고 있으며 대부분의 연구가 수도권에 있는 국내대학 소속의 연구자들에 의해 시행된 것으로 나타났다. 전체적으로 양적 연구가 질적 연구 보다 압도적으로 많이 시행되었으며 이러한 경향은 연도별 변화 없이 지속되었다. 연구 내용 면에서는 효과연구, 음악특성 연구, 치료 과정 연구와 특정주제/개관연구, 지각/태도 연구, 그리고 직무 관련 연구 순으로 게재 빈도가 높았다. 성인 대상 연구가 가장 높은 빈도로 게재되었으며 그중에서도 음악치료사(학생)를 포함한 비장애 성인대상이 주를 이루는 것으로 보고되었고, 정서영역과 인식도나 선호도 등을 다룬 기타영역 연구가 다른 영역의 연구들 보다 더 많이 게재 된 것으로 나타났다. 또한 데이터 처리 방법에 대한 분석 결과, 양적 연구에서는 변량분석이 가장 많이 사용되었고 질적 연구에서는 현상학적 분석이 가장 높은 빈도를 나타냈다. 연구자 소속기관에 따른 연구 내용이나 연구 대상에 대한 교차분석 결과 모두 기관에 따라 영향을 받는 것으로 보고되었으며 연구 내용도 연구 대상이나 연구 방법, 혹은 연구 영역에 따라 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 결과로 ｢한국음악치료학회｣는 창간 이후로 꾸준히 발전하며 한국 음악치료분야의 전문성을 강화하는데 필수적인 학문적 공헌에 앞장 서 왔음을 알 수 있다. 앞으로는 그간의 성과를 바탕으로 보다 음악치료 정체성에 적합한 대상과 내용을 다루는 연구들을 더욱 활성화하는 노력이 필요하다.
