This study is intended to analyze the difference between paper-and-pencil test(PPT) and multimedia-test(MMT) in the assessment of cognitive domain on physical education for the purpose of suggesting an appropriate evaluation method for physical education. In order to achieve the aforementioned study objective, 93 second graders(58 male and 35 female students) from three different co-educational classrooms in middle school D were selected as study subjects. As for study tools, 12 questions from a PPT in the competitive areas(Soccer) and expressive activity areas(Music Jump Rope), and also 12 questions from a MMT were developed and used. As for individual evaluation scores obtained by conducting PPT and MMT, independent t-test and paired t-test were implemented in the use of SPSS 18.0 for Windows. According to the study, a MMT was more effective than a PPT in the assessment of cognitive domain on physical education. The effectiveness was most apparent in evaluating the comprehension and application domain of cognition, as opposed to the knowledge domain. Likewise, improved effectiveness in activity domain were more prominent than competition activity. Thus, MMT will be utilized as an appropriate test delivery mode for knowledge assessment of understanding practical situations and scientific principles based problem solving in the field of Physical Education.

이 연구는 체육교과 인지 영역 평가에서 지필형 검사와 멀티미디어형 검사에 대한 차이를 분석하여 체육교과의 특성에 적합한 평가 방법을 제안하기 위한 목적으로 설계되었다. 전문가 집단 회의를 통해 혼성학급으로 구성된 D중학교 2학년 3개 학급 93명(남 58명, 여 35명)을 연구 대상으로 선정하였으며, 연구 대상 학교의 평가 문항을 수정·보완한 지필형 검사 12문항과, 같은 내용으로 매체를 달리하여 제작한 멀티미디어형 검사 12문항을 연구 도구로 사용하였다. 평형 설계(Count Balanced Design)를 적용하여 얻은 개인별 점수는 윈도우용 SPSS 18.0을 이용하여 독립표본 t-test와 종속표본 t-test를 실시하였다. 연구 결과 체육교과 인지 영역 평가에서 지필형 검사보다 멀티미디어형 검사가 효과적인 것으로 나타났다. 특히 ‘지식 영역’ 보다는 ‘이해․적용 영역’에서, ‘경쟁 활동’ 보다는 ‘표현 활동’ 영역에서 멀티미디어형 검사가 효과적인 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 멀티미디어형 검사 매체는 체육교과에서 ‘실제 상황을 이해하고, 경기 규칙 및 과학적 원리를 적용하여 문제를 해결할 수 있는 지식’에 대한 검사 정보 전달에 적합한 도구로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.
