This study aims to reveal the reception history of Wisdom Literature in 17-18th century Korea mission by analyzing Chilgeuk, Giinshippyun, and Seonggyeongjikhae. 287 Bible verses were quoted in Chilgeuk 145 times: 106 verses of the Old Testament 46 times, 34 verses of the Apocrypha 32 times, and 147 verses of the New Testament 67 times. In the case of the Old Testament, the Wisdom Literature of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Job were quoted 40 times, 87% of total quotations. In the case of the New Testament the verses of the Gospel accounted for 42 quotes, 63% of the total. In the case of the Apocrypha, verses of Ecclesiasticus were cited 30 times. Among these, cases in which verses were paraphrased or summarized outnumbered literal translations. Although Chilgeuk quoted verses from the Wisdom Literature and advanced a new ethical belief emphasizing God, the book actively utilized Eastern thought and terms and met the needs of Joseon scholars who emphasized self- discipline, so that Joseon scholars accepted the book without resistance. In the Giinshippyun, the Scripture was quoted 16 times, namely Proverbs in the Old Testament, Ecclesiasticus in the Apocrypha, and the Gospels of the New Testament. Most importantly, a few quoted verses were interpreted. Psalms 90: 4 was analyzed and interpreted in a fairly accurate quote. And the book points out that this interpretation takes place in the Bible itself. The Wisdom Literature was quoted in the commentary section Zam of Seonggyeongjikhae, which introduces the Gospels. The Old Testament was quoted 4 times and the Apocrypha was quoted 2 times. In the case of Job, verses 1:1-2:10 were summarized. In addition, the Song of Songs was quoted in Youngeonyeojak. Finally, in Seonggyoyoji we nd further possibility for creative utilization of the Wisdom Literature. This research shows how Koreans accepted the Wisdom Literature prior to any other section of the Bible, paving the way for the spread of Christianity in Korea.

본 연구의 목적은 17-18세기 한국선교에서 『기인십편』, 『칠극』, 『셩경직 』 등을 분석하여 지혜문학의 한국 수용의 역사를 밝히려는 것이다. 『칠극』에는 성경 구절이 145회 287절 인용되었는데, 구약에서 46회 106절, 외경에서 32회 34절, 신약에서 67회 147절, 인용되었다. 구약의 경우 지혜문학인 잠언과 전도서와 욥기를 합치면 40회로 전체의 87%를 차지하였다. 신약의 경우 지혜문학적 요소가 많은 복음서가 42회로 63% 를 차지하였고, 외경의 경우 지혜문학인 집회서와 지혜서만 인용되었는데 집회서가 압도적으로 30회 인용되었다. 그리고 성경을 인용할 때 직역보 다 의역, 요약 등이 많았다. 비록 『칠극』이 성경의 지혜문학을 인용하였고 신 중심적 윤리관을 전개 하였지만, 동양적인 사상과 용어들을 적극 활용하였고 수양을 강조하는 조 선의 선비들의 요구에 부응하였기에 조선의 선비들이 거부감 없이 수용할 수 있었다. 『기인십편』에서도 성경이 16회 인용되었는데, 구약에서는 잠언, 외경 에서는 집회서, 그리고 신약에서는 복음서를 주로 인용하였다. 중요한 것 은 성경을 인용하면서 해석을 하였다는 점이다. 시편 90편 4절의 경우, 한 절을 비교적 정확하게 인용하면서 그 의미를 분석하고 해석하였다. 그리고 성경 안에서도 해석이 일어난다는 점을 지적하였다. 『셩경직ㅎㆎ』는 복음서를 소개한 책인데 해설 부분인 에 지혜문학이 인용되었다. 구약에서 4회 외경에서 2회 인용되었는데, 욥기의 경우 1:1- 2:10의 내용이 길게 요약되어 있다. 이 외에도 『영언여작』에 아가가 인용 되어있다. 그리고 지혜문학이 조선에서 창의적으로 활용되었을 가능성을 『성교요지』에서 찾아볼 수 있다. 이러한 연구를 통해 한국인들이 다른 어떤 성경 부분보다 지혜문학을 먼저 수용하여 기독교 선교의 길을 열었음을 확인할 수 있었다.
