During the Chosun Dynasty period, Confucianism was the foundation of the society, and as a result, the housing for upper class had designated space for man and woman. Especially the separation of Sarangchae, a room designed for male, became apparent in 16th century when value of Neo-Confucianism was starting be practiced in real life. Byeoldang was built to enjoy art and entertain guest. This part of residence was a way for the residence owners to manifest their socioeconomic power, and was also built in a way that exterior space seen from this room reflects the ideal Neo-Confucianism value. In order to interpret the vista from Byeoldang, this research will hypothesize that vista is also reflected in the landscape paintings in their frameworks, and analyze the three viewpoint from vista : looking upward, horizontally, and downward. This will be done by referring to the landscape paintings of Gyeomjae which reflects the Neo-Confucianism values and used the bird-eye view and synthetic view.

조선시대에는 유교가 사회를 통치하는 주요사상이었고, 그 결과 조선시대의 상류주택에서는 남녀의 공간분리가 더욱 뚜렷하였다. 특히 사랑채의 분화는 16세기 이후 성리학이 실생활에 적용되면서 본격적으로 이루어졌다. 사랑채에서 분리된 별당은 풍류와 접객을 위해 만들어졌고, 조영자의 경제력과 권력이 뒷받침되어야 나타날 수 있는 형태로, 조영자는 별당의 외부공간에 성리학적 이상향을 만들고자 노력하였다. 본 연구는 별당에서 바라 본 경(景)을 해석하기 위해, 산수화 역시 시각틀에서 바라보는 경(景)을 표현한 것으로 생각하고 성리학적 이상향 담고자 그린 회화인 겸재의 진경산수화에 나타나는 시점인 부감법, 합성법을 참고하여 내려보기, 수평으로 보기, 올려보기의 3시점으로 경(景)요소를 분석하였다.
