The initial idea of this study is upon arrangement of building shapes in site planning. Investigation of shape, type or character of site plan would give us greatly benefit on process of Architectural design. In order to create prototype of FIGURE, first of all, deconstruct conventional square to extract ‘one line type’, parallel type’, ‘oriented type’, ‘right-angled type’. In case of Henri Ciriani, adding ‘two squares type’ to expand possibilities within architectural line composition. Based upon 5 types of FIGURES, I have found dignities and significant meaning of each type of FIGURE. The FIGURE applies geometrical aspects, horizontal variations and sectional possibilities in architectural formation. In overall, the FIGURES influence surrounding context in planning of spatial possibilities. To conclude, comparing each character of FIGURES verify use of hierarchical space and utilize method of inner and outer space expansion in vertical and horizontal direction.

본 논문은 건축설계 진행 중 중추적인 역할을 하는 배치계획에 있어서 그 형상에 대한 유형과 특징을 연구하여, 이 논제에 대한 폭 넓은 연구의 기반을 제공하고 또한 합리적이고 이성적인 배치계획을 위한 실무설계에 도움을 주고자하는 것이 주목적이다. 기본적인 피규어를 도출하기 위하여, 전근대적인 사각형을 해체시켜 ‘ㅡ자형’, ‘=자형’, ‘ㄷ자형’, ‘ㄱ자형’피규어들을 추출하였다. 그리고 앙리 시리아니는 이 피규어에 ‘2개의 ㄱ자형’형상을 추가하여 선적인 건축구성을 위한 활용 가능한 범주로 국한하고 있다. 이 다섯 가지 피규어를 기준으로, 각 형상이 가지는 의미와 기하학적 관점에 따른 분석, 수평적 변화와 단면적인 응용에 대한 가능성 그리고 주변 컨텍스트와 연계된 특성에 대하여 고찰하였다. 이에 대한 종합으로 각 유형에 대한 특징을 비교분석하여 주변 컨텍스트에 따른 배치유형의 활용방법, 수평적 및 수직적인 응용에 따른 공간의 확장 방법, 각도의 변화에 따른 목표공간으로의 집중도, 내부공간의 연속성에 대한 결론을 추출하였다.
