3D printing is recognized as an innovative technology to change the paradigm in health care, art, design. And various attempts using 3D printing in the fashion industry. However, 3D printing is used in the fashion industry is not popular as other industry. The biggest reason is because it is difficult to produce enough fabric to meet the criteria for clothing made ​​of 3D printing . In this study, we developed a 3D printing fabrics and costumes. The study was conducted in three steps. first,It has developed a technology that can reliably print, regardless of the thickness of the fibers. Second, we developed a technique to output a knitted fabric and a textile fabric on the basis of phase 1 study. Knitted fabric is derived for the results to be reliable printing of thick yarn. Woven fabric was obtained for the results to be stable and durable fabric placed on the space between the warp and weft. Third, Costume design applied to take advantage of the organizational characteristics of 3D printed knit and woven fabric. This study was produced by 3D printing fabrics all involved in making costumes yarn , fabrics, auxiliary materials. Through this study, we propose new possibilities for fashion design.

3D 프린팅은 산업 분야를 막론하고 가장 주목받는 신기술로 인정받고 있으며 의료, 예술, 디자인 분야에서도 패러다임을 바꿀 혁신적인 기술로서의 가능성을 인정받고 있다. 패션산업에서도 3D 프린팅을 이용한 다양한 시도들이 이어지고 있지만 타 산업분야에 비하여 패션산업에 3D 프린팅의 적용은 더딘 편이며 가장 큰 이유는 의류제작에 필요한 기준을 충족시킬만한 패브릭을 3D 프린팅으로 제작하기 힘들기 때문이다. 본 연구에서는 3D 프린팅 패션디자인의 대중화를 위하여 반드시 연구가 필요한 3D 프린팅 패브릭과 의상을 개발하였다. 연구는 3단계로 진행되었다. 1단계에서는 섬유를 두께에 관계없이 안정적으로 프린팅 할 수 있는 기술에 대한 연구를 진행하였다. 2단계에서는 1단계 연구결과를 바탕으로 니트 패브릭과 직물 패브릭을 출력하는 기술을 개발하였다. 니트 패브릭은 얇은 원사를 겹쳐서 프린팅 하여 두꺼운 원사를 안정적으로 프린팅 할 수 있는 결과를 도출하였다. 직물 패브릭은 경사와 위사 사이에 공간을 두어 안정적이고 내구성이 뛰어난 직물을 프린팅 할 수 있는 결과를 도출하였다. 3단계에서는 3D 프린팅 니트 패브릭과 직물 패브릭의 조직 특성을 활용한 의상을 제작하였다. 본 연구는 기존 3D 프린팅 패션 디자인이 부분적인 장식이나 기존 원단에 부착되는 한계점에서 벗어나 섬유조직, 니트 패브릭, 직물 패브릭 등 의상 제작에 관련된 패브릭을 모두 3D 프린팅으로 제작하였다. 이를 통하여 향후 3D 프린팅 패션 디자인의 새로운 가능성을 제시하였다는 것에 의의가 있다.
