The purpose of current study is to investigate university students’ perception of cyber violence and factors affecting their perceptions. Based on previous research, grade, major, gender, religion, parent attachment, peer attachment, satisfaction of university life, general strain, empathy level, self-control, cyber confidence, actual experience of violent crime, times of internet use, internet use education, and supervision of parents/myself were examined as independent variables. Using self-administered survey method, 502 students were participated in survey. Research results indicated that average of respondents’ perceptions of cyber crime 4.39 was higher than median value(3). Multiple regression revealed that a woman, a respondent with police administration major, a higher level of parents and peer attachment, a higher level of self control, and a higher level of empathy was more likely to demonstrate higher level of perception of cyber crime, while a respondent who was more likely to be exposed to domestic violence between parents, with a higher level of cyber confidence, and having experienced internet use education and parental supervision on internet use were more likely to show lower level of perception of cyber crime. Based on research results, developing parenting education and anti-domestic violence education program for university students, creating liberal art aimed at enhancing empathy level, and making effective anti-cyber crime education program for university students were provided as policy implications.

사이버 폭력 실태조사 결과는 대학생이 사이버 폭력 가·피해율이 상당히 높은 집단임을 보여주지만, 대학생들을 대상으로 한 사이버 폭력 예방교육은 제대로 이루어지고 있지 않다. 대학생들의 사이버 폭력에 대한 인식과 이에 영향을 주는 요인을 조사하기 위하여 수도권 내 한 대학에서 502명이 참여한 설문조사가 실시되었다. 인구사회학적 특성, 일상적 긴장, 공감능력, 자기통제력, 사이버 자신감, 부모애착, 부모갈등, 부모학대, 친구애착, 대학생활만족도, 오프라인 가·피해 경험, 인터넷 이용시간, 인터넷 이용교육, 인터넷 이용에 대한 나와 청소년 시절 부모의 관리 등이 독립변수로 조사되었다. 연구결과, 응답자들의 사이버 폭력에 대한 인식은 상당히 높았으며, 여성일수록, 경찰행정 전공일수록, 친구애착이 강할수록, 공감능력이 높을수록, 자기 통제력이 높을수록 사이버 폭력에 대한 인식이 강했으며, 부모갈등을 목격한 응답자일수록, 사이버 자신감이 높을수록, 인터넷 이용교육을 받을수록, 청소년 시절 인터넷 사용에 대한 부모관리를 받았을수록 사이버 폭력에 대한 인식이 낮았다. 연구결과를 토대로 대학 내 폭력근절 및 예방 전담 기관의 설치, 대학생 대상 부모교육과 가정폭력 예방교육의 시행, 공감능력을 향상시킬 수 있는 교과목 개발, 효과적인 대학생용 사이버 폭력예방교육의 개발 등이 정책제언으로 제시되었다.
