The buildings built after modern times deviate from the simple square shaped building, and the buildings with various geometric shapes and artistic features are increasing. Kuma Kengo, the Japanese architecture criticized concrete building structure which is typical of a modern building, and received world's attention by designing buildings which inside and outside can relate to each other and buildings that connect nature and architecture. When searching through Kengo's preceding studies, there are many theses about architectural factors as an architect, but there aren't many case studies about application to fashion design. As of this period of time when natural factor is regarded important in our daily lives, I believe it is meaningful to apply Kengo's architectural ideas into fashion and create new design. Kengo who was in the center of this transition period, believed these randomly built buildings are a negative factor in human society. Kengo's works using such a connection method mainly uses wood and stone as a main material focusing on building structure. His works, not fancy in formation, have a modern color just like nature, and have natural texture using natural materials. The formativeness of his works is classified into shape, texture and color, and the explanation for each part is as follows Recently, as artistic feature of building construction as well as the basic function of the building is regarded important, it started to influence fashion design in various ways. This study has verified the close relationship between architecture and fashion design which they have to cooperate in order to achieve improvement, and I hope that the creative building constructions of Kengo will later be useful not only to the field of fashion design but in various fields of design.

일본의 대표적인 건축가인 쿠마 켄고는 근대 건축의 상징인 콘크리트 건물을 비판하면서 건물의 내부와외부가 소통할 수 있는 건축물, 자연과 건축이 연결되는 건축물을 제작하는 건축가로써 주목을 받기 시작했다. 의식주에서 자연적 요소가 중요시 되는 현 시점에서 켄고의 건축 사상을 패션과 접목하여 새로운 디자인을 구현하는 것은 의의가 있다고 본다. 이에 본 연구에서는 그의 건축물에 나타나는 조형적 특성을 패션에접목하여 그 표현의 가능성을 제시하고자 하는데 목적이 있다. 켄고의 작품에서 보여주는 조형적인 특성을무연의 공간으로서 비움(다공성), 단위 공간들의 조합(중첩성)을 중심으로 분석하고 패션디자인의 모티브로써 응용하여 8벌의 작품을 제작하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 켄고 작품의 조형적 특징인 모티브가중첩되는 요소를 작품 제작에 접목함에 있어 하나의 모티브로 선정하여 크기의 변화 및 반복, 중첩의 효과를활용하였으며, 부분적인 디테일의 소재개발을 통해 볼륨감과 입체적인 디테일을 표현할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 다공성의 요소를 표현함에 있어 컷 아웃 기법과 스모킹 기법 등을 사용하여 건물 외형의 반복적인 디테일과 깊이 감을 통해 구조적인 연출을 표현할 수 있었다. 셋째, 자연 그대로의 느낌을 표현하기 위해울, 멜톤, 스웨이드 끈을 활용해 색채와 질감을 표현하였다. 돌, 나무의 느낌을 표현하기 위해 회색과 베이지색을 활용하여 건축물에서 보여주는 자연 소재의 색상을 표현하는 작품을 제작할 수 있었다. 본 연구를 통하여 건축과 패션의 상호 보완적인 관계로서 각 분야의 발전에 있어 밀접한 관계임을 알 수 있었으며, 켄고의조형성이 가미된 독창적인 건축 작품들이 패션디자인뿐만 아니라 각 디자인의 연구에 있어 다양하게 활용될수 있기를 기대해 본다.
