This paper is to consider emotional features and writer consciousness with analyzing Sijo(시조) written by Yoon yang-rae(윤양래) who enclosed in a thorn hedge in Gapsan(갑산) area, and furthermore to find his Sijo(시조)’s literary significance. Especially, this paper is focused on revealing the distinctive value of his Sijo(시조) by reading and analysis of Sijo(시조) correctly with considering regional characteristics of Gapsan(갑산) and relations with Sijo(시조) and Chinese poetry. In conclusion, recognition as a the other existence about human geography of a place of exile, Gapsan(갑산) and life of exile was embodied in Yoon yang-rae(윤양래)’s Sijo(시조). Furthermore, longing for home and family was expressed strongly in his Sijo(시조). On the other hand, the aspect that will plead his innocence or express yearning for his king of lord to be out of exile did not show up. This means that literary inclinations of Yoon yang-rae(윤양래) and general writers of exile literature in the Joseon Dynasty is not the same. Sijo(시조) written by Yoon yang-rae(윤양래) have a significance in embodying realistically true character of Gapsan(갑산) through catching anthropogeographical features of Gapsan(갑산) and problem in life of exile, and expressing earnestly of the soul of human beings which caused through exile experience.

이 논문은 함경도 갑산에서 위리안치(圍籬安置)의 유배 생활을 했던 윤양래(尹陽來, 1673 〜1751)의 시조 19수를 검토하여 그의 시조에 형상화된 정서적 특징과 작가의식을 고찰하고, 그것이 가지는 문학적 의의를 살펴보고자 작성된 것이다. 특히 유배지 갑산의 지역적 특성, 시조와 한시와의 내용적 연관성을 고려하여 시조 작품의 독해와 분석을 정확하게 함으로써유배문학에서 그의 시조가 가지는 변별적 가치를 조명하는 데 초점을 맞췄다. 논의의 결과 윤양래의 시조에는 유배지 갑산의 인문과 지리에 대한 타자적(他者的) 인식과 유배 생활이 형상화되었고, 유배지에서 느끼는 고향과 가족에 대한 그리움이 표출되어 있었다. 즉, 갑산의 지형적 특성과 기후, 왕화(王化)가 미치지 못하는 원악지적 성격, 군사적 요충지로서의 형상, 갑산 사람들의 일상에 대한 적객(謫客)의 심회를 표출하였고, 또 멀리 떨어져 있는 형과 아들에 대한 그리움을 시조를 통해 드러내었다. 한편, 그의 시조에는 임금을 향해 자신의 결백을 호소한다거나 해배(解配)와 정계 복귀를 위한 연군지정을 표출하는 양상은거의 나타나지 않았는데, 이는 조선조 유배문학 작가들이 시조를 통해 구현하고자 했던 문학적 지향과 차이가 드러나는 지점이다. 결국 윤양래의 시조는 유배지였던 갑산의 인문․지리적 특성과 생활문제를 포착하여 갑산의 진면(眞面)을 사실적으로 형상화하고, 또 유배 체험이 일으킨 내면의 정감을 진정(眞情)으로 표출했다는 점에서 의의를 가진다. 시는 인간 내면의 진실한 생각과 감정을 드러내야 한다는 관점에서 보면, 윤양래 시조의 문학적 의의는 더욱 분명해 질 수 있을 것이다.
