This paper presents lexical, morphological, syntactic and contextual factors that allow “te-miseru” to express the strong will of the speaker. First, regarding the lexical factor, we have showed that “te-miseru” expresses the strong will of the speaker when it combines with the verb implying (i) the realization of a goal or a dream as in “win” or “succeed”, (ii) the change in societal position as in “become a teacher”, (iii) the change in physiological status as in “heal” or “recover”, and (iv) the activity related to creation as in “make” or “write”. Importantly, the verbs preceding “te-miseru” express the actions that the speaker is proud of; therefore, “te-miseru” is rarely used with the verbs expressing undesirable actions to convey the meaning explained above. Secondly, we have morphologically compared “te-miseru” and “suru”, which can similarly convey the will of the speaker. In addition, “te-miseru” can take the form of “te miseyo” and “te miseteyaru” as well as “te-miseruyo” and “te-miseru.” Thirdly, we have showed that the sentence adopting "te-miseru" to express the strong will of the speaker has the following structure: 「Xガ(ga) Yニ(ni)[Xガ(ga)・・・V]テミセル(te-miseru)」. When “te-miseru” is used to convey the meaning of demonstration or showing off, Y is specified. However, when it is used to express the strong will of the speaker, Y can be a specific group of people or unspecified people. Finally, we have showed that “te-miseru” is accompanied by an adverb expressing the strong will of the speaker to realize her goal or dream.
