The present study was intended to investigate the awareness of the Korean Japanese-language learners about the role language associated with the women’s and men’s languages, and to analyze the correlation between the awareness and the use of the role language by figuring out the reality of using such men’s and women’s languages through the translation examples of the learners. First of all, from the result of examining the learners’ knowledge on the role language, about a half of the learners (46.9%) turned out to have the correct knowledge. Besides, the image of person they associated with the presented utterance containing role languages was resulted as similar as what the native Japanese speakers did. Secondly, from the result of examining the awareness of the men’s and women’s languages, the learners with higher awareness about the role language have higher awareness about the men’s and women’s languages, and the awareness of the men’s languages was higher than that of the women’s. Lastly, from the analysis of the ratio of using men’s and women’s languages, when translating the presented Korean-language conversation into Japanese, the learners with higher awareness about the role language turned out to use more men’s or women’s expressions. From the analysis of the entire learners’ tendency of using men’s and women’s languages, the female speakers tend to use more neutral expressions rather than the women’s whereas the male speakers tend to use men’s and neutral expressions almost equally, a tendency corresponding with the self- awareness of using men’s and women’s languages.
