This study is on the temporality of rhetorical sentences in Korean and Japanese. Rhetorical sentences express subjective thoughts or arguments by the generalized features which show actual situation instead of potential situation. One of the features is sentences which show actual situation with tenseless expressions. This study examined verb predicate , adjective predicate and noun predicate sentences in focus of temporal localization. As a result, Rhetorical sentences represent contingent accidence with constant essence, or express stronger arguments with rhetorical denial of constant essence. This article propose the groundwork for the integrated research in rhetorical sentences, for example, the relation between temporal aspects and cognitive aspects, constructive features and idiomatic expressions.
