The Japanese literary education at the University of Tokyo has two objectives. One is to enable the students to comprehensively read the Japanese literature as an educated people, and the other is leading them to initiate the fundamental way to study Japanese literature as an expert. In class, we put emphasis on a seminar that is to present the results, earned after the deep study, done by the students themselves, in front of other students and teachers. From 2013, in order to make Japanese literature globalized and the literature education in the university well connected with the high school education, we newly started a lecture called "Genera Japanese Literature .
