The purpose of this study is to explore how overseas major Jewish non-profit organizations encourage Jewish youth to immigrate to Israel and raise policy implication for Korea. Major Jewish non-profit organizations such as, JAFI and Nefesh B’Nefeshi introduce various programs and activities for Jewish youth to experience life in Israel. Furthermore JAFI and Nefesh B’Nefeshi introduce diverse programs for youth such as, leadership, educational, vocational, assistance for new soldier and internship programs. The most prominent characteristic of this immigration encouragement campaign is a close coordination between Israeli government and JAFI and Nefesh B’Nefeshi. Two major implications for Korea are drawn from this study. First, Korea needs more non-profit organizations or organization affiliated to Overseas Korean Foundation in order to diversify programs and by which draw Korean youth’s attention to Korea. Second, Korean government should secure much more budget to finance diverse programs for overseas Korean youth.

이 논문의 목적은 재외 유대인 지원 민간단체가 유대인 청소년들의 이스라엘 이민을 촉진하기 위해 어떤 프로그램을 제공하고 있는지, 또 한국에는 어떤 시사점이 있는지 살 펴보는 것이다. 주요 재외 유대인 민간단체인 JAFI 와 Nefesh B’Nefeshi는 재외 청소년 들이 이스라엘 생활을 경험할 수 있는 다양한 프로그램과 활동을 제공하고 있다. JAFI 와 Nefesh B’Nefeshi는 청소년을 위해 리더십, 교육, 직업, 군복무자 지원, 인턴십과 같 은 다양한 프로그램을 제공하고 있다. 이민 촉진 캠페인의 가장 큰 특징은 이스라엘 정 부와 민간단체의 협업이다. 이 연구는 두 가지 중요한 시사점을 준다. 첫째 한국은 청소 년 프로그램을 다변화해서 재외 청소년의 한국에 대한 관심을 유발하기 위해 더 많은 비영리 민간단체 또는 재외동포재단 산하 기관이 필요하다. 둘째 한국 정부는 다양한 프 로그램을 제공하기 위해 더 많은 예산을 배정해야 한다.
