Teaching the doctrine is an essential ministry and obligation of pastor. The reason is that teaching the pure doctrine as the true sign of the church is a foundation to build up the church as the body of Christ. However, many pastors work the church “as they saw fit.” Pastors are making an attempt to grow the church in secular and artificial means for the purpose of church growth. They do not build up the church founded on Biblical doctrine. Thus, this dissertation argues that teaching the doctrine not only makes the church to be the church, but also is the foundation of the church. For this assertion, I suggest three major prejudices to avoid the doctrine education: first, doctrine education is difficult and uninteresting; Second, doctrine education is not related to the Christian life; Third, doctrine education hinders church growth. However, I reveal that doctrine education can be an interesting and useful by changing its teaching methods; it is the foundation of a healthy Christian life; and it can grow more healthy local churches. Furthermore, catechesis has three important benefits. First, catechesis is a good method that new believers register and settle in the church; Second, it is a great way to make the saints God’s healthy people; Third, it is a good way to keep the faith and the church against heresies’attack. Therefore, I suggest that the local churches should strive to teach doctrine. The Sunday worship preaching is a good way to conduct catechesis. Wednesday service is particularly good time to carry out teaching the doctrine because Wednesday worship is simple and plentiful in time. Above all, the local church should set the doctrine class in a weekday and they should focus on teaching Bible study and catechesis.
