In the first half of the 20th century, the translation of Jang Hyeok Ju’s works has an important status in the Chinese translation of Korean literary works. His works that have been translated in Chinese including four short stories, for example The Deportation of People, The Mountain Spirit; One play named The Spring Fragrance Memoiristand; One prose named The Spring of the North Korea; A long fairy tale named The Black and White and so on. Jang Hyeok Ju’s novels are the magnum opus of Korean proletarian literature. His plays have great influence on modern Korean drama. His prose presents the customs and the cultural atmosphere of South Korea. What’s more, his fairy tales walk onto the stage of the world. This are the reasons why Chinese researchers translated his works. It is reasonable to say that before 1950, through Jang Hyeok Ju’s works, Chinese people could know the national culture and natural landscape of Korea. Jang Hyeok Ju is not only a writer, but also a disseminator of Korean culture. And that’s the reason why it has an unique position in translation field. It is important for us Chinese researchers to translate and research on Jang Hyeok Ju’s works in the first half of the 20th century.

20세기 전반기 중국의 한국문학번역사를 살펴보면 장혁주(张赫宙, 1905-1997)의 작품들은 ｢쫓기는 사람들[被驱逐的人们]｣, ｢산령(山灵)｣, 등 단편소설 4편, 희극 <춘향전>, 수필집 조선의 봄[朝鲜春], 장편동화 흑백기(黑白记) 등이 번역 출간되었다. 장혁주의 소설은 한국 프로문학 대표작으로, 희곡작품은 한국 근대극의 양상을 보여준 작품으로, 수필작품은 한국의 자연 인문 풍토 및 문예풍토를 보여준 풍토기행작품으로, 동화작품은 세계문학과의 교류 양상을 보여준 장편동화로 번역 수용되었다.1950년까지 중국에서는 장혁주의 작품을 통해 학국문학과 한국 자연 인문 풍토를 알게 되었다고 해도 과언이 아닐 것이다. 따라서 작가로서의 장혁주는 한국 프로문학 내지 현대문학 대표작가로, 한국문학과 자연 인문 풍토 전파자로 평가되었으며 20세기 전반기 중국의 한국문학번역사상 양 질 양면으로 가장 뛰어난 독보적, 진보적 작가로 자리매김하였다.
