This study aims to compare among the characteristics of distribution of NGOsin districts of Seoul. I examine the differences among conditions of NGOs in eachdistricts. And I try to construct the analytic frame; I define ‘conditions of NGOs’as the subordination variable, conditions of ‘political-social conditions’, include politicalorientation, local institutions, networks, as the independent variables, and‘historical-geographic conditions’ as the leading variables. Then, to examine the usefulnessof the analytic frame, I try to compare among the case of three districts;Gangnam, Mapo, Dobong. In conclusion, the differences of conditions of NGOsin case districts is correspond to the political-social conditions. In each districts, theimpacts of political-social conditions has an effect related with historical-geographicconditions.

본 연구의 목적은 서울의 지역 간 비정부단체(NGOs)의 분포특성을 비교하는데 있다. 이를 위해 서울의 지역별 비정부단체들의 현황에 어떤 차이를 지니고있는지 살펴봤다. 그리고 소지역 비정부단체들의 현황과 분포에 영향을 미치는요인들 비교하기 위한 분석틀 구성을 시도했다. 이에 따라 지역별 비정부단체들의 현황과 분포를 종속변수로 놓고, 여기에 인과적 영향을 미치는 독립변수로 지역의 정치적 성향, 비정부단체 관련 지역제도와 연결망 등의 정치·사회적 조건을설정했다. 이어서 이러한 독립변수들에 근원적으로 영향을 미치는 선행변수로서도시계획을 중심으로 한 역사지리적 조건을 설정했다. 그리고 이러한 분석틀의유용성을 확인하기 위해 강남구, 마포구, 도봉구를 사례 지역으로 선정해 간략한비교분석을 시도했다. 분석결과 세 개의 사례 지역이 보유한 비정부단체들의 현황과 분포가 나타내는 차이들은 각 지역이 지닌 정치·사회적 조건에 조응했다. 또한 정치·사회적 조건의 영향은 각 지역의 역사·지리적 조건 위에서 작용하고있다.
