초록

영어

The study holds implications for educators at colleges, where there is a lack of research on the subject of adult learners in the art education field. Research illustrates that the characteristics of college students and the influences of artist-teachers’ artistic expressions to their college students are necessary in order to understand how art educators influence students in colleges as adult learners. This qualitative paper contains images and narratives of students’ artworks and frames investigation into topics related to college students’ learning with artist-teachers. The research addresses adult learning theories to understand students in higher education, and examines literature about Transformative Learning Theory and other adult education theories, specifically concerning influences of education for college students to explore educational implications for artists’ learning situations. Art educators at the college level may consider referring to the effective methods used in the college programs discussed in this research to improve their programs for adult learners. This ongoing study has implications for artist-educators at colleges and suggests that artists’ voices can expand critical thinking and provide artistic insights for changing curriculum and pedagogy for college level students.
