The aim of this study is to examine how the ego-resiliency of students enrolled in cosmetology-related departments and the social support they gain from their parents, professors and friends affect their level of satisfaction in the department, which is composed of general satisfaction, perceived satisfaction, satisfaction in curriculum and satisfaction in relationships. The reason why this study viewed social support to include support from parents, professors and friends is because social support is achieved through the relationships students have with their parents, professors and friends, through whom they receive emotional and social support. Furthermore, as the students’ satisfaction in their department and major consists of overall satisfaction in department (general satisfaction), perceived satisfaction of department (perceived satisfaction), satisfaction of curriculum or program and satisfaction of peer relations, this study included general satisfaction, perceived satisfaction, satisfaction in curriculum and satisfaction in relationships when measuring the students’ satisfaction in their departments. Therefore, this study surveyed students enrolled in cosmetology-related departments in 4 universities (S University in Seoul, K University and S University in Gyeonggi Province, and C University in Chungcheong Province) and conducted an empirical analysis on a total of 260 surveys collected. The results of empirical analysis indicated that the stronger the ego-resiliency of college students and the greater the support received from professors and friends, which are components of social support, the more satisfied students were with their department. On the other hand, results showed that parental support did not affect the students’ satisfaction with their department. These results indicated that ego-resiliency and the support of professors and friends served as important factors that affect the satisfaction of cosmetics-related majors with their departments. Furthermore, as the results showed that the social support of professors and friends have a bigger impact on satisfaction than the social support of parents, we confirmed that the support from professors and friends gained through social relationships in school life play an essential role in the students’ satisfaction in their department.

본 연구는 미용관련학과 대학생들의 자아탄력성(ego-resiliency)과 부모, 교수, 친구지지로 구성된 사회적지지(social support)가 일반, 인식, 교과, 관계만족을 내포한 학과만족도에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고자 하였다. 본 연구가 사회적 지지를 부모, 교수, 친구지지로 구성된 것으로 본 이유는 대학생의 생활에서 사회적 지지는 부모, 교수, 친구 등의 관계 형성에서 이루어지고, 이들의 지지를 통해 대학생들이 정서적 및 사회적 지원을 받는기 때문이다. 또한 대학생들의 학과 및 전공 만족은 전반적인 학과만족(일반만족), 학과에 대한 지각된 만족(인식만족), 교과 및 프로그램에 대한 만족, 그리고 교우 관계에서의 만족 등으로 구성된 것으로 볼 수 있어 본 연구에서는 학과만족도를 일반, 인식, 교과, 관계만족 등을 내포한 것으로 보았다. 이에 본 연구는 서울 S대, 경기도 K대와 S대, 충청도 C대 등 총 4개 대학교에 재학 중인 미용관련학과 대학생들을 대상으로 설문조사를 통해 총 260부를 회수하여 실증분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과 대학생들의 자아탄력성이 높을수록 학과만족도가 높은 것으로 나타났고, 사회적 지지의 구성요인 중 교수지지와 친구지지가 높을수록 학과만족도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 부모지지는 학과만족도에 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 확인되었다. 이러한 본 연구의 결과를 통해 미용관련학과 대학생들에게 자아탄력성과 교수 및 친구지지가 학과만족에 영향을 주는 중요한 요인임을 알 수 있었다. 또한 부모의 사회적 지지보다 교수와 친구의 사회적 지지가 학과만족에 영향을 미친다는 점을 밝혀냄으로써 미용관련학과 대학생들이 학과생활에서 관계하는 사회관계망을 통해 얻게 되는 교수와 친구지지가 대학생들의 학과만족에 매우 중요한 부분임을 확인하였다.
