This study aims to analyze ways in which guqin music from ancient tablature is interpreted and performed in contemporary society. This paper especially focuses on studying the ‘concept of dapu,’ ‘methodology and process of dapu,’ and ‘outcomes and symposiums on dapu.’ ‘Dapu’ means to interpret characters from ancient tablature, to analyze fingering techniques, and to study the origin and the history of qin music. It is only possible through the experience and analysis of professional qin music performers. Therefore, ‘dapu’ is seen as a distinct concept that lies somewhere between reenactment and composition. The end result of ‘dapu’ is used in research, education, performance and composition, which means that ‘dapu’ is more than simply reproducing ancient music; it provides justification for research on ancient music and therefore makes a significant contribution to the music field in general. This paper is mainly concerned with clarifying how ancient guqin music-which was the preserve of upper class people and the core of mainstream music for thousands of years-is interpreted and performed throughout premodern and modern era.

본 연구는 중국 고악보 속의 고금(古琴 guqin) 음악이 현대에서 어떻게 재해석 되고 연주 되 는지를 고찰하는 것을 연구 목적으로 한다. 본 논문에서는 ‘타보(打譜 dapu)의 개념’과 ‘타보의 방법과 과정’, ‘타보 결과물과 학술대회’를 집중 연구하였다. 고악보 속의 글자를 해석하고, 지법 (指法 fingering)을 분석하고, 금곡의 원류와 변천 등을 연구하는 ‘타보’ 작업은 고금음악 전문 연주가의 경험과 해석으로 가능한 작업이다. 때문에 ‘타보’ 작업은 재현과 창작 사이에서 또 다른 작곡개념으로 보고 있다. ‘타보’ 작업의 결과물은 연구, 교육, 연주, 창작에 활용할 수 있도록 제 공된다. 이는 ‘타보’가 단순히 고음악의 역보나 재현 연주의 차원을 넘어 고대음악을 연구하는 데 에 중요한 근거를 제시한다는 점에서 음악계에 남기는 업적은 상당히 크다고 할 수 있다. 본고는 수천 년 동안 상류사회의 전유물로서 주류문화의 핵심이었던 고금 음악이 근대와 현대를 지나오 면서 어떻게 고악보가 해석되고 연주되는지를 밝힌 논문이다.
