The purpose of this study is to verify the impact of occupational stress experienced by correctional officers on their happiness focusing on occupational burnout and mental health. This study was conducted on 360 correctional officials; frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, reliability analysis, and confirmatory factor analysis were performed on investigation data. Structural equation modeling was made in order to analyze causal relation between research model adequacy and variables through questionnaires. As a result of the research, following things were found out. First, it was found that occupational stress had positive influence on occupational burnout in significant level. Second, it was found that occupational stress did not have significant influence on mental health and happiness. Third, it was found that occupational burnout had positive influence on mental health in significant level. Fourth, it was found that occupational burnout had negative influence on happiness in significant level. Fifth, it was found that mental health had negative influence on happiness in significant level. Based on the findings of this study, suggestions to enhance the happiness of correctional officers were discussed.

본 연구는 교정공무원이 경험하는 직무스트레스가 행복에 미치는 영향을 검증하기 위한 것으로 직무소진과 정신건강을 중심으로 살펴보았다. 연구는 교정공무원 360명을 대상으로 하였으며, 조사된 자료는 빈도분석, 기술통계, 상관관계분석, 신뢰도 분석, 확인적 요인분석을 실시하였다. 설문지를 통한 연구모형 적합도와 변인들 간의 인과관계를 분석하기 위하여 구조방정식모델링을 실시하였다. 연구 결과 첫째, 직무스트레스는 직무소진에 유의미한 수준에서 정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 직무스트레스는 정신건강과 행복에 미치는 영향력이 유의미하지 않았다. 셋째, 직무소진은 정신건강에 미치는 영향력이 유의미한 수준에서 정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 직무소진은 행복에 미치는 영향력이 유의미한 수준에서 부적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 다섯째, 정신건강은 행복에 미치는 영향력이 유의미한 수준에서 부적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 교정공무원의 행복 증진을 위한 제언을 논의하였다.
