The purpose of this paper is to find factors that affect metropolitan and provincial goverments’ own revenue. Despite central and local governments’ effort to increase financial independence, the financial gap is increasing and financial independence is decreasing. In this respect, we analyze the key factors and their influence on local taxes of Daegu and Gyeongsangbukdo. The results show that manufacturing outputs are the most significant factor that affect both Daegu and Gyeongsangbukdo’s own revenue. This means that recent own revenue of Daegu and Gyeongsangbukdo depends relatively high on manufacturing. Therefore, the stable growth of both manufacturing sectors and related service sectors for increasing own revenue is the key to solve economic problem of employment and income growth.

이 논문의 목적은 광역시·도 자체재원에 영향을 미치는 요인을 찾는 것이다. 중앙정부와 지방자치단체의 노력에도 불구하고 지자체의 재정자립도는 하락하고 재정격차가 커지고 있다. 이러한 상황을 고려하여 대구광역시와 경상북도의 자체재원에 미치는 주요 요인을 찾고 영향력을 분석하였다. 현황분석과 통계분석 결과에 따르면 대구광역시와 경상북도 모두 제조업생산이 자체재원에 가장 크게 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 최근의 대구광역시와 경상북도의 자체재원은 제조업의존도가 상대적으로 높다는 것을 말해준다. 따라서 자체재원 확충을 위해 지역제조업의 안정적 성장과 연관산업인 서비스업이 동반성장을 이루어야 고용, 소득 등 경제 전반의 문제를 해결할 수 있을 것이다.
