This study is regarding the development and validation of university student's learning competency scales. This study involves three stages. The first step is a qualitative study while the second and third steps are quantitative surveys. Initially, the researcher had in-depth qualitative interviews with ten university students demonstrating honors level performance. After that, the researcher surveyed 338 university students in the first survey and 730 students in the second survey. Factor analyses of the university student's learning competency yielded six factors that measured learning: 'vision competency', 'student identity competency', 'cognition control competency', 'emotion control competency', 'learning management competency' and 'learning environment create competency'. Internal consistency estimated across studies was moderate to high. The study also discussed implication and limitations of the study and suggestions for university student's learning competency scales and for the development of university student's learning competency improvement.

이 연구는 “대학생용 학습역량검사도구” 개발을 위한 연구이다. 연구자는 이를 위하여 세 단계의 연구를 수행하였다. 첫 번째 단계는 학업성취 수준이 우수한 대학생 10 명을 사례로 심층면접을 통하여 학습역량 요소를 추출하는 기초연구를 수행하였다(양흥권, 2015). 기초연구결과 학업성취 우수 대학생의 학습역량은 ‘학습동기 영역’과 ‘학습행동 영역’으로 구성되어 있음을 알 수 있었다. 두 번째 단계는 기초연구에서 추출한 학습동기 영역과 학습행동 영역의 역량 요소를 기반으로 하고, 관련 선행연구 분석을 통해 학습역량 영역을 추가하고 세분화하여 총 6 개의 학습역량 영역으로 구성된 “대학생용 학습역량 예비검사도구”를 개발하였다. 이 같은 검사도구를 사용하여 수도권과 경북지역 대학생 338명의 응답자료를 분석하여 본검사 도구를 개발하였다. 세 번째 단계는 본검사 도구를 사용하여 전국 대학생 730명을 대상으로 한 조사결과에 대한 탐색적 요인분석과 확인적 요인분석을 통하여 학습역량을 구성하는 6 가지 요인의 모형적합도를 검정하였다. 이 같은 결과로 최종 117문항의 “대학생용 학습역량 검사도구”를 완성하였다. 이 연구는 학습역량의 탐색에 있어서 실증적 방법과 이론적 방법을 상보적으로 활용한 것과 학습역량 영역을 기존의 3가지에서 6 가지 영역으로 세분화하고 정교화한 점에서 기존연구와 차별성을 갖는다.
