The third year of Ken'nin(1203) stood at the focal point of Medieval Japanese history of mentalités, as a period that constituted a major transitional phase. In this year, the eminent monks Jien, Shinran, and Myōe received a message from the beyond in the form of dreams, revelatory visions, and oracles. Each and one of these priests had to come to terms with a crucial turning point in their lives. Through analyzing the texts that these figures left behind, the paper will illuminate and interpret the historical context in which they are embedded, as well as explore the various aspects of the monks' miraculous experiences. The paper also examines how monastics grappled with the notion of the sacred, and the way in which they managed to produce new religious texts, focusing especially on Myōe's Kegon engi.

중세 일본의 정신사적 경관(景觀)의 초점은 거대한 시대의 전환기의 와중(渦中)이라고 할 만한 겐닌(建仁) 3년(1203)에서 찾아볼 수 있다. 이 해에 중세 불교를 대표하는 지엔(慈円), 신란(親鸞), 묘에(明恵)는 몽상(夢想), 꿈의 계시, 탁선(託宣)이라는 신불(神仏)로부터의 메시지와 교신을 하여 각각 종교가로서의 결정적인 전기(転機)를 맞이하게 된다. 본고는 그 결과로 남겨진 종교 텍스트를 분석하여 역사적 문맥에 비추어 해석함으로써 신이(神異)의 경험화의 제상(諸相)을 중심으로 살펴보았는데, 그들의 <성(聖)스러운 것>과의 격투에서 창조된 여러 종교 텍스트의 달성을 특히 묘에에 의한 『게곤엔기(華厳縁起)』에서 확인해볼 수 있었다.

中世日本の精神史的景観の焦点が、巨大な時代の転換期の渦中というべき建仁三年(1203)に見いだせる。この年に、中世仏教を代表する、慈円、親鸞、明恵は、夢想、夢告、託宣という冥からのメッセージとの交信を遂げ、それぞれの宗教者としての決定的な転機を迎えた。その結果として遺された宗教テクストを分析し、歴史的文脈に照らして解釈することにより、それらの神異の経験化の諸相を探り、彼らの<聖なるもの>との格闘から創造されるあらたな宗教テクストの達成を、とくに明恵による『華厳縁起』において確かめてみたい。
