The purposes of the present study are, first, to evaluate the effect of market orientation on strategic flexibility, second, to measure the effect of strategic flexibility on sustained competitive advantage, and, third, to verify the moderating effect of resource orientation between market orientation and strategic flexibility. The result of the structural equation modeling supports the hypothesis that market orientation enhances strategic flexibility. And the result of the structural equation modeling also supports the hypothesis that strategic flexibility increases a firm's sustained competitive advantage. Furthermore, the hypothesis that resource orientation moderates between market orientation and strategic flexibility is also supported. Therefore, the results of the present study provide the managerially important messages, especially to CEO.

본 연구의 목적은 첫째, 시장지향성이 전략적 유연성에 미치는 영향, 둘째, 전략적유연성이 지속적인 경쟁우위에 미치는 영향, 셋째, 자원지향성이 시장지향성과 전략적유연성 사이에서 미치는 조절적 영향을 규명하는데 있다. 분석결과, 시장대응과시장창출의 시장지향성이 전략적 유연성을 증대시킨다는 가설이 지지되었으며, 또한전략적 유연성이 지속적인 경쟁우위를 강화시킨다는 가설이 지지되었다. 마찬가지로자원지향성이 시장지향성과 전략적 유연성간의 관계에서 조절적 역할을 한다는 가설이지지되었다. 따라서 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같은 실무적 시사점을 가진다. 첫째, 시장지향성이 전략적 유연성을 증대시킨다는 결과는 기업이 전략적 유연성을 증대시키기위해서는 시장지향성 강화가 좋은 방안이 될 수 있다는 것을 제시하고 있다. 둘째, 전략적유연성이 지속적인 경쟁우위를 강화시킨다는 결과는 기업이 지속적인 경쟁우위를증대시켜 성과를 창출하기 위해서는 전략적 유연성 강화가 좋은 방법이 될 수 있다는것을 제시하고 있다. 셋째, 자원지향성이 시장지향성과 전략적 유연성 사이에서 긍정적인조절적 역할을 하므로 전략적 유연성 증대를 극대화하기 위해서는 자원지향성 활동을함께 추진하는 것이 효과적이라는 것을 제시하고 있다.
