The purpose of this study was to provide preliminary empirical data to construct early childhood teachers' code of ethics by analyzing level of teachers' cognition and practice teaching ethics. Results revealed that the more early childhood teachers take up their educational background, the higher level of practice and cognition of ethical responsibility to a profession and teacher's role. Teacher's cognition of ethics on family was related to teacher's teaching experience. And there were the differences of cognition and practice ethical responsibility to colleagues and agencies according to educational background and teaching experience, but there were not the differences in ethical responsibility to community and society. Implications of the results for the establishment of ethical codes are as follows. First, ethical expectation of parents and community and society as educational clients will be considered to establish ethical codes. Second, the level of teachers professionalism must be heightened.

유아교육의 질적인 관리의 한 방법으로 유아교사를 위한 윤리강령의 제정이 시급히 요청되는 시점에서 본 연구의 목적은 윤리강령 제정의 사전연구로 유아교사의 교직윤리에 대한 인식과 실천 수준, 인식과 실천수준의 차이가 학력과 경력에 따라 어떠한 특성을 보이는가를 알아보는데 있다. 402명의 유아교사를 대상으로 교직윤리 검사를 통해 조사한 결과, 교직윤리의 하위영역 중 전문성과 직무, 지역사회/사회에 대한 윤리의 인식과 실천 정도가 가장 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 학력이 높은 교사들과 경력이 적은 교사들이 유아교사의 전문성과 직무에 관한 윤리를 인식하고 실천하는 정도가 높았다. 유아에 대한 윤리는 대부분의 교사들이 명확히 인식하고 실천하는 것으로 나타났다. 유아의 가정에 대한 윤리는 교육경력에 따라 인식, 실천수준이 높은 것으로 나타났고, 동료와 기관에 대한 윤리는 학력에 따른 차이가 유의했으며, 지역사회/사회에 대한 윤리는 학력과 경력에 따라 인식과 실천 수준에 따른 차이는 없으나 인식한 것을 실천하는 데에는 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과들은 유아교사를 위한 윤리 강령의 내용에 전문성과 직무, 지역사회/사회에 대한 윤리 항목이 강화되어야 할 것을 시사하고 있다.
