The importance of ecosystem monitoring is increasing to evaluate environmental health conditions and to effectively preserve declining wildlifes. We surveyed amphibians and reptiles in the Jangjeon Valley of Mt. Gariwang which is the representative forest in the mid-part of Korean peninsula between March and November in 2015 and also conducted a literature search to determine herpetofauna and species distributions in the area. As the results, we listed six amphibian and seven reptile species in the valley. Rana huanrenensis and Takydromus amurensis were a dominant species for each amphibian and reptile group. In addition, for the first time Karsenia koreana which was recorded in 2005 was observed in the valley. The results will increase our understanding and be useful to prepare conservation plans for the environments in the Jangjeon Valley of Mt. Gariwang.

변화하는 환경을 파악하고 감소하는 생물들을 보존하 기 위한 방법으로 생태계 모니터링의 중요성을 점점 커 지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 중부 산림을 대표하는 가리왕 산 내 장전계곡에서 서식하는 양서·파충류의 현황 조 사하였습니다. 2015년 3월부터 11월까지 현지조사와 문 헌조사를 병행하였다. 조사 결과, 2목 5과 6종의 양서류 와 1목 3과 7종의 파충류가 관찰되었으며, 계곡산개구 리와 아무르장지뱀이 각 분류군의 우점종으로 나타났 다. 장전계곡에서는 처음으로 희귀 양서류인 이끼도롱 뇽 암컷 2개체가 관찰되었다. 본 연구 통해 획득한 결과 들은 가리왕산 장전계곡에 서식하는 야생동물을 파악 하고 보존하기 위한 대책 마련에 유용한 자료로 활용 될 것이다.
