The objective of this study is to verify the roles of preschool teachers training, set throughout training course curriculums for preschool teachers, by focusing on the images of the occupation. This study aims to evaluate changes of the images of preschool teachers between pre- and post-training. The questionnaire survey was conducted among 347 college students from faculty of child studies at S university, to analyze the occupation images held by the students in each student year and how these images differ. The results suggest that throughout 4 years of the curriculums, the nature of preschool teachers follow stages to be better understood by the students. Moreover, comparing by each student year, it is expected that even though the images are similar between at the time of university entrance and today, the reasons for these images may alter by experiences through the preschool teachers training. In addition, after thorough literature study, general images of preschool teachers are “cheerful” and “genial” which also supported by many of S University students. On the other hand, the changes of the images were found among “busy”, “scold children” and “cute”. It has also been found that the actual training has led the trainees to highly recognize “busyness” – one of the negative images of the occupation – which results in enhancement of the quality of preschool teachers.

本研究の目的は、保育者養成カリキュラムにおいての実習の役割を明らかにするために、保育士へのイメージに焦点をあて、保育・教育実習前後の保育者へのイメージ変化について検討することである〭 その際、日本のS大学児童学科の1〜4年生、計347名を対象とした質問紙調査を実施し、学年別にみられる保育者のイメージ変化の分析を行った〭 その結果、S大学のカリキュラムを通して1年生から4年生までに保育者の本質を理解していく過程が結果に現れた〭 また、各学年別で入学当初と現在では、同じ保育者のイメージを抱いていても、その項目を選択した理由は実習での経験によって変わってくることが考えられる〭 また、文献研究の結果、どの年代でも「明るい」「やさしい」という保育者のイメージは、S大学の多くの学生からも支持されていた〭 一方、保育者のイメージの変化の中で各年別に差がみられたのは、「多忙」、「子どもをしかる」、「かわいい」というイメージであった〭 実習は、保育職の厳しい面の一つである「多忙さ」についての認識を高め、保育者の資質を高める効果があることが見出された〭
