This study was conducted to investigate the effect of core training on improvement of muscular functions and athletic performance in rowers. This study targeted 10 male rowers, who heard the explanation about the purpose of experiment and study and voluntarily participated in the experiment and 5 out of them were placed in a Control Group(CoG) and the remaining 5 ones were placed in an Exercise Group(ExG). After group division, height, body composition, isokinetic muscular strength, deadlift 1RM and 2000-m rowing ergometer records were measured in advance and then 8-week core training was carried out. After exercise termination, post-measurement was conducted in the same way as the pre-measurement and the results were analyzed. As the result, there were significant differences in lumbar muscular endurance(trunk 180°/sec) flexor between CoG and ExG after measurement(p<.05) and there were significant differences between pre- and post-measurement in ExG(p<.05) and there were significant differences in 2000-m rowing ergometer records between pre- and post-measurement in ExG(p<.05). These findings demonstrate that 8-week core training improved lumbar muscular endurance and 2000-m rowing ergometer records. Therefore, it is considered that core training influences athletic performance of rowers.
