This study aimed at understanding informatization for adolescents and providing basic and important data for more effective information policy for the adolescents. A field survey was administered to 1,605 7th-12th grade students in their classrooms in order to figure out adolescents' perception of national information policy and informatization of Korean society. Findings showed that Korean adolescents highly evaluated level of and accessibility to information technologies and that they evaluated their capability of using information technologies as moderate. They perceived more negative effects than positive ones of informatization. Such a result raised an issue of urgent information policy for decreasing the negative effects. They recognized necessity of informatization programs for themselves. But their perception of such programs was relatively low, which awaked the necessity of public relations for the programs. Finally, they perceived the necessity of informatization policy for the adolescents, especially prevention and treatment programs for Internet addiction, which is a reflection of severity of Internet addiction among the adolescents.

이 연구는 우리나라 정보화 및 정보화 서업에 대한 청소년들의 인식 실태를 조사ㆍ분석함으로써, 청소년 정보화인식 및 청소년 정보화정책의 나아갈 방향을 모색하기 위한 기초 자료를 제공하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 정보화정책에 대한 청소년들의 인식을 알아보기 위해 제주도를 제외한 전국의 중ㆍ고등학생 1,650명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 주요 연구결과를 살펴보면, 첫째, 청소년들은 우리나라의 정보기술 수준과 정보이용의 편리성 수준에 대해서는 높게 평가하는 것으로 나타났으며 자신의 정보화 능력 수준에 대해서는 보통수준인 것으로 평가하고 있다. 둘째, 청소년들은 전반적으로 정보화 사회의 순기능과 역기능을 모두 인식하고 있었으며 순기능보다 역기능을 좀 더 크게 인식하고 있는 것으로 나타나 청소년의 정보화 역기능 완화를 위한 정책이 시급하다. 셋째, 청소년 정보화 지원사업에 대한 필요성은 모두 인식하고 있으나 청소년 정보화 지원사업에 대한 인지도는 전반적으로 낮은 것으로 나타나 정보화 지원사업에 대한 홍보의 필요성이 제기되고 있다. 또한 청소년 정보화 정책의 필요성에 대해서는 모두 긍정적인 반을을 보이고 있으며 특히 인터넷 중독 예방 및 치료사업의 필요성이 높게 나타나 청소년들의 인터넷 중독이 심각한 현상임을 보여주고 있다.
