This study deals with the writing technique of novel using fantastical feature to highliten the theme used in the episode of . This episode has a rather perfect description system among the episodes in 『Shilla Suii Jeon』 and attracts many readers. It analyzes the basic novel factors which are Characters, Background and the features of situation. The characters' desperate wish for ideal life, the world mixed with illusion and reality, the dramatical turnover of the story. The man and woman in met human beings and ghosts to resolve their desperate solitude. The world mixed with illusion and reality was the ideal base for the meetings between human and ghosts. Dramatical turnover like death was used to solve the extremity of solitude of the characters. These features were based on the writing technique of fantastic novel and were to highliten the theme of the novel.

이 논문은 전기소설적인 판타지를 통한 주제부각측면에서 전기소설의 글쓰기기법을 다루었다. 논의의 대상작품은 <최치원>이다. <최치원>을 텍스트로 한 것은 초기 󰡔신라수이전󰡕소재 애정전기 작품 중에서 비교적 서사체계가 완전하며, 많은 독자층을 가지고 전승한다는 데 따른 것이다. 논의 방법은 소설의 기본요소인 인물, 배경, 사건의 특성을 파악하는 것이었다. 그런 특성으로 인물에는 남녀주인공의 이상적인 삶에 대한 절실성, 배경에는 환상과 실재가 공존한 幻實世界, 사건에는 이야기의 극적전환에 두었다. 이에 <최치원>에서는 남녀주인공이 절대고독을 해결하기 위한 심정이 너무 절실해서 인간과 귀신을 가리지 않고 만났으며, 인간과 귀신이 만나다 보니 이승과 구천과 저승을 넘나드는 환실세계를 배경으로 설정했으며, 인물의 절대고독이 한계상황에 도달하다 보니 죽음과 같은 사건의 극적전환이 있었다. 이런 설정은 奇異한 전기소설적인 판타지 글쓰기기법에 기초한 것이었다. 그 목적은 전기소설의 판타지를 통해서 전기소설의 주제를 부각하기 위한 설정이었다.
