This study aims at understanding the characteristic of early childhood teachers’ life from the perspective of conventional 'caring' and reconceptualized 'caring'. For this purpose, the researcher collected 14 studies about early childhood teachers’ life history emphasized on the 'change and continuity' of their experience and 22 studies about early childhood teacher's understanding and practice of 'caring'. The studies were analysed from the perspective of both conventional 'caring' and reconceptualized 'caring'. The revealed characteristic of early childhood teachers’life is to consider ‘heavy work’ normal and to become conformist due to being tied by conventional 'caring' perspectives. Also, early childhood teachers experience a conflict between ‘lesson’ and ‘care’as they have got confuesd between thoes two perspectives. Futhermore, they try to overcome the conventional understanding of 'caring'. The results shows that what early childhood teachers experience in their life as a teacher is closely related with what they and society think 'caring' is. It is also pointed that for the paradigm shift in the perspective of 'caring' from conventional to reconceptualized, this is dealt at not only idiographic, also societal dimension.

본 연구는 전통적인 ‘돌봄’의 관점과 재개념화 된 ‘돌봄’의 관점으로 유아교사 삶 연구에서 드러난 유아교사 삶의 특성을 분석하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 유아교사 삶을 조명하고 있 는 14편의 연구와 유아교사의 ‘돌봄’을 주제로 한 22편의 연구를 수집하였고, ‘돌봄’을 ‘비전문 적’이고, ‘여성의 일’로 보는 ‘전통적인 돌봄의 관점’과 ‘관계성’, ‘상호의존성’, ‘책임’, ‘사랑의 실천’, ‘사유 과정을 수반한 지적활동’으로 보는 ‘재개념화 된 돌봄의 관점’을 준거로 분석하였 다. 그 결과 유아교사의 삶은 전통적인 ‘돌봄’의 관점에 얽매임으로부터 오는 ’과중한 업무’를 당연하게 받아들이고, ‘체제에 순응’ 하는 특성을 지니고 있었다. 또한, 전통적 ‘돌봄’의 관점과 재개념화 된 ‘돌봄’의 관점의 혼재를 경험하며 ‘수업’과 ‘돌봄’ 사이에서 갈등하고, 전통적 ‘돌 봄’의 관점의 삶에 대한 억압을 벗어나고자 하는 특성이 있었다.
