The purpose of this study is to investigate the determinants of plant investment by financial ratio derived from financial reports of hospitality firms. 779 firms-year is used as the sample over 2004-2008, these firms consist of Korean lodging and food-service firms, registered by a law on the external audit. According to the research result, first, the author found that internal fund and profitability had a positive(+) effects on the hospitality firm's plant investment. Second, it was founded that these firms preferred internal funds to external funds for plant investments. Therefore, a pecking order theory has also application to hospitality firms. Third, in lodging firms, the plant investment decision is positively effected by internal funds like net working capital ratio, while, in food-service firms, it is positively effected by profitability like OROA.

본 연구의 목적은 환대기업의 재무보고서로부터 도출된 재무비율로 설비투자의 결정요인을 조사하는 것이다. 표본으로서 2004년부터 2008년까지 '주식회사의 외부감사에 관한 법률'에 적용을 받는 779개 기업-연수를 사용하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 환대기업의 설비투자는 내부자금과 수익성에 정(+)의 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 이들 기업은 설비투자를 결정함에 있어서 외부자금보다 내부자금을 더 선호하는 것으로 나타나 자본조달순서이론이 환대기업에서도 적용이 됨을 알 수 있다. 셋째, 숙박기업의 설비투자결정은 순운전자본비율과 같은 내부자금에 의해 영향을 많이 받으며, 외식기업의 설비투자결정은 총자본영업수익률과 같은 수익성에 영향을 많이 받는 것으로 나타났다.
