Related with Japanese Military Sexual Slavery, this research analyzed reporting manners and media frames of the liberals and conservatives press in Korea and Japan. In reporting manners, the press in Korea and Japan has strongly regarded Japanese Military Sexual Slavery as a crucial diplomatic agenda, and has shown the reporting of the priority to national interest which is the typical reporting manner in the diplomatic conflict issues. The nationalistic reporting patterns were found in the frames of the diagnosis of the conflict, conflict causes, and solution plans. There was slight potential of ideological directivity of the press making difference with the media manners and frames, but this was still not so enough to overcome those reporting limitations.

이 연구는 한일 양국의 진보와 보수를 대표하는 언론이 일본군위안부 문제를 다루는 방식의 차이를 보도양상과 미디어 프레임에 초점을 두고 분석한 것이다. 보도양상에 있어, 한국과 일본 언론은 일본군위안부 문제를 중요한 현안으로 다루려는 의지를 강하게 피력하고 있는 가운데, 이 과정에서 국가 이익과 이해에 기반한 민족주의적 보도의 전형적인 모습을 보여주고 있었다. 또한, 이와 같은 국익 중심의 민족주의 보도 관행은 현재 갈등이 전개되고 있는 현황에 대한 진단, 일본군위안부 갈등 원인, 그리고 그 해결 방안에 대한 프레임에서도 광범위하게 확인할 수 있었다. 언론이 추구하는 이념적 지향성이 보도양상과 미디어 프레임에 일정한 차이를 만드는 기제로 작용한다는 사실을 추론할 여지가 있었음에도, 국익 중심의 민족주의의 보도 관행을 불식시킬 수 있을 정도의 보도 자율성과 다양성으로 나타나지는 않고 있었다.
