In the past, Vietnam was a small country of Asia enjoying the traditional industry of agriculture. But this small agricultural country astonished whole world because it defeated one by one the world superpowers such as France, America, China through armed struggle. This historical accomplishment of Vietnam was possible because of the great leadership of Ho Chi Minh. The leadership of Ho Chi Minh is composed of two major elements, which are humanitarianism and practicalism. The absolute trust toward leader and the huge sacrifice of Vietnamese people during the armed struggle was possible because of their absolute trust toward strategical decision of Ho Chi Minh which represented his practicalism. The studies and analysis of ideology of Ho Chi Minh and series of Vietnam’s history such as Armed Struggle against Japan, August Revolution, Declaration of Independence, Negotiation with France, Battle of Dien Bien Phu, Geneva Conference, Land Reform, and Will of Ho Chi Minh definitely show his practical leadership. The practical leadership of Ho Chi Minh could be succeeded by the trust and support of Vietnamese people who preserves practicalism. Recently, Vietnam is struggling to achieve economy accomplishment. The practicalism of Vietnamese people would lead Vietnam’s future to national prosperity and military power.

베트남은 동양의 작은 농업국가로 프랑스의 식민지배와 미국의 분단정책에 대해 무력으로 맞서서 자주독립과 민족통일을 이룩하 고, 이후 중국과의 침공으로부터 영토수호를 이루어낸 역사를 가지 고 있다. 이러한 강대국과의 투쟁에서 모든 희생과 고난을 감내하 며 승리를 이루어낸 것은 호찌민 주석의 실용주의 리더쉽이 있었기 에 가능한 것이었다. 본 논문은 베트남 현대사 속에서 호주석의 실 용주의 리더쉽이 어떻게 발휘되었는지를 살펴본다. 한편, 호주석의 실용주의 리더쉽을 베트남 민족이 수용한 것은 베트남 민족성이 실 용주의를 추구하기 때문이라고 생각한다. 오늘날 경제발전 등의 새로운 도전 속에서 베트남 민족의 실용주의는 국가발전을 위한 원동 력이 되리라 생각한다.
