In this study, we empirically examine the effect of the size of IT human resource of Korean listed companies on the market value from year 2004 to year 2011. Also, how the size of IT human resource is related to the profitability of firms is analyzed. IT human resource is recognized as a critical intangible asset for the IT capability of firms. Despite the importance of IT human resource there is not much information about factors which can explain the size of IT human resource of firms. In Korea listed firms should dislclose the number of their IT workers in their annual 10-K report. This study utilizes the mandatorily disclosed information on the size of IT human resource to analyze the effect of the size of IT human resource on the market value and profitability of firms. Empirical results show that the market value of firms increases and the effect of profit on the market value of firms decrease as the size of IT human resource increases.

무형자산으로서 정보기술 인적자원 규모와 기업가치사이의 관계가 중요한 연구주제임에도 불구하고 정보기술 인적자원 규모가 기업가치에 어떻게 영향을 주는가에 대해서는 알려진 바가 별로 없다. 본 논문은 Ohlson(1995) 모형을 바탕으로 기업의 정보기술 인적자원 규모가 기업가치에 어떻게 영향을 미치는가를 분석하였다. 본 논문에서 정보기술인적자원 규모는 내부회계관리제도 운용보고서상에 보고된 전산부서의 총인원수로 측정하였다. 본 논문의 실증분석 결과에 의하면 우리나라 상장기업들은 2004년부터 2012년까지의 기간 동안 전산부서 총인원 규모가 증가할수록 시장가치가 증가하고 회계이익이 시장가치에 미치는 영향은 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 정보기술 인적자원규모가 미래수익성에 미치는 영향에 대한 분석에서는 실제자료를 사용한 분석뿐만 아니라 예측자료를 사용한 분석에서도 전년도 전산부서 총인원 수가 증가할수록 다음 해 기업의 총자산이익률과 매출액이익률이 증가하는 것으로 나타났다.
