The practice of theology is not limited to talking about or discussing God. As God must eternally and utterly remain transcendent and ineffable, God can never be reduced to an object of our theological reflection or discussion. At the heart of practicing theology lies its commitment to divine actions in the midst of our pains and sufferings. God acts out of God’s suffering on this world. This means that the best circumstance for theological education is the place where we meet others who suffer from this world. It is mainly outside the wall, not inside of a church where we find ourselves fully exposed to the suffering others. The original meaning of others is determined only by their radical exposedness, which gives us the accused the only possible reaction of instant “responding,” the “saying.” Then we cannot but be answerable to others and take responsibility to and for them, giving our five pieces of breads and two fish to God, in spite of our shame. Immanuel Levinas’s priority on ethical relationships with others over one’s own relationships and also Moltmann’s theology of the Cross helps us to understand where we have to start our theological education.

어디에서 신학교육을 해야 하는가? 신학교육 이라는 것이 단순하게 하나님을 아는 것이 아닌, 하나님의 일하심 그 역사에 참여하는 것이라면그 신학교육은 지금 이 땅의 하나님이 아픔으로 일하시는 현장에서 해야한다. 그 현장은 무너져가는 교회, 해체되는 가정, 불의와 폭력으로 죽어가는 가난한 자들, 그리고 경쟁과 비교의식으로 말라가는 젊은 세대, 청년 세대, 그 아픔에 현장이다. 그 현장에서 아픔으로 일하시는 하나님의아픔에 나를 완전히 노출시킬 때, 우리는 세상의 학문에서 정답이 주는자괴감을 넘어, 두렵고 부끄럽지만, 우리의 오병이어를 드리는 진짜 믿음을 소유하게 된다. 그리고 하나님은 그 믿음으로 일하신다. 목회자를다시 진정한 신학자로 회복할 수 있는 진정한 신학교육의 장소가 어디인지 살펴보고자 한다. 먼저 신학교육에 있어서 문제점과 방향성을 논의한후, 오병이어의 기적에 대한 예수님의 가르침을 통해 진정한 신학교육의장에 대해서 이야기 신학(Narrative Theology)의 관점으로 논한다. 이후 그러한 이야기 신학을 위겐 몰트만의 신학과 임마누엘 레비나스의 타자철학과 소통한 후에 신학교와 목회현장에서 이러한 신학교육을 어떻게 회복할 것인지 구체적으로 제언한다.
