Korea attaches great importance to the Confucians Five Constant Virtues(Benevolence, Righteousness, Propriety, Wisdom and Faithfulness) the great function in social life. 유가의 오상(五常)이라 일컬어지는 인의예지신(仁義禮智信)은 한국 사회에서 중요한 기능을 한다. 한국의 성리학은 “오상(五常)”사상을 발전시켰을 뿐만 아니라, “오상(五常)”에 근거한 교육사상을 실행하는 데 사상적 이론적 근거를 제공하기도 한다. 한국은 정규학교교육과정에서 뿐만이 아니고, 일상생활에서도 “오상(五常)”을 비롯한 전통적인 도덕을 아주 중요시 한다. “오상(五常)”을 위주로 하는 유가의 윤리 도덕은 실제 한국사회가 발전하는 과정에서 이중적인 작용을 한다.
