In China, before the first half of this century, City was not only the political center, but also the agricultural production unit in the sense of land utilization. The tight combination of city and agriculture led the development of agricultural technique, and this was the road of agricultural technology development with Chinese characteristics. This paper brief the situations of agriculture in cities of history in China, analyses the reasons and characters that agriculture occurred in the cities, and discusses the influence of city on agriculture with it’s special political and economical status. It is suggested that formed by the special political, economical and cultural situation, city is the most advanced area of agricultural technique, and the center of agricultural talent. Many agricultural innovations, famous experts and lots of agricultural species and varieties with high quality were invented, appeared and breed in cities. All of these contributed lots to the agricultural development of China.

본 논문은 중국역사에서 나타난 도시 중의 농업상황을 소개하고 그 존재 요인을 분석하며, 도시의 특수한 정치, 경제조건이 농업기술에 미치는 영향 및 농업기술 발전과정에서 도시의 역할을 중점적으로 검토하고자 한다. 본 논문은 도시가 농업기술이 가장 선진적이며, 농업과 관련한 인적자원이 많이 집중된 지역이라서 그 형성은 도시의 정치경제상황과 긴밀한 관계를 가졌다고 보고 있다. 도시는 정치중심지역으로 전국에서 가장 훌륭한 인재를 집중하며, 경제중심지역으로 그 수요가 농업기술의 발전을 유발하였다. 도시의 건설은 불가피하게 대량 토지를 점용해야 하지만 농업에 입은 손실은 도시농업의 발전과 기술혁신을 통해 보완시킬 수 있었다. 이것은 바로 중국역사에서 상공업이 발달하지 않은 상황 하에 인구 많은 대도시가 존대할 수 있는 요인 중의 하나로 작용했다는 것으로 보인다.
