This research aims to quest for a right path that the Korean churches lead to in consideration of the social and pastoral situation of Korea. The pastoral context and reality have changed faster than pastors expect. The ways of thinking and living of the lay people have been influenced by the post-modernism. The speed of the change is too fast for pastors to catch up with the mind-set of the church members from time to time. The Korean churches have been focused on the two paradigms of evangelism in the past: individual-centered evangelism and church-centered evangelism. This study illuminates these two paradigms from the case studies and analyzes the strong and weak points of each paradigm. Furthermore, the study suggests three types for the new direction of the evangelism in the future from the analysis of the emerging churches, which become more popular in the States and Korea as well. The emerging churches need to be regarded not as a new type of church, but as the movement for the church reformation and recovery. The study of the evangelism of the emerging churches in the US and Korea enables us to shed a new light on the new direction for the evangelism. On the basis of this analysis, this study suggests three different types (3M-Mind, Mission, Method) of the new evangelism paradigm for the Korean churches in the future. In the future, evangelism needs to practice with more interest in essential dimension, unlike the way it has been practiced with the more focus on the methodological interest. The essential dimension is concerned about the way of helping non-Christians to change their action and proceed toward the future, the kingdom of God.

본 연구는 지나온 한국교회의 전도방법론들을 살펴봄으로써 전도의 주된 흐름과 현실, 미래 가능성을 파악하고 이머징 교회의 전도를 통해 얻은 통찰력 을 토대로 한국교회의 미래 전도방향성을 모색하였다. 이는 지금까지의 한국 교회의 전도방법 변천의 과정과 두 가지로 분류된 전도패러다임의 실례들, 이 에 따른 사례교회 연구를 통해 장단점을 분석하였다. 또한, 이머징 교회 전도 패러다임의 특징과 선교적 관점을 담아 미래 한국교회가 어떤 방향에서 전도 해나가야 할 것인가를 세 가지로 제시하였다. 특히 본 연구는 한국교회 내에서 활용되었던 전도방법론들과‘이머징 교회’에 관한 국내외의 자료와 문헌에 의 해 연구되었다. 또한, 사례 연구방법으로 한국교회에 전도의 틀을 이루었던 ‘개인중심의 전도’와‘교회주도형 전도’와‘이머징 교회의 전도’사례 교회를 중심으로 연구되었다. 이와 같이 진행된 연구를 토대로 하여“한국교회의 미 래 전도패러다임 방향성”을 세 가지(3M)로 제시하였다. 첫 번째는 Mind(출발) 로서,“ 세상속으로들어가는성육신적자세”이다. 전도의출발점이중요한데, 그 출발점은 세상 속으로 들어가는 성육신적 자세이어야 한다. 교회가 세상과 의 눈높이를 맞추는 것에서부터 전도는 시작된다. 그것의 첫 출발점이 바로 ‘성육신적 마인드’이다. 두 번째는 전도의 목표(Mission)로서, “예수 따라 사 는 제자 되기”이다. 전도의 목표는 제자화해서 또 다른 제자를 낳는 것이다. 세상 속에서 전도자로 살아가는 것, 전도자를 삶으로 양성하는 것, 그래서 복 음의 재생산이 이루어지는 것이 전도의 목표가 되어야 한다. 세 번째는 전도의 방법(Method)으로서,“ 복음의삶으로경험시키는전도”이다. 미래에는지금까 지의 전도방법론 위주의 전도패러다임에서 벗어나 본질적인 차원의 접근에서 전도가 실행되어야 할 것이다. 상대방의 마음을 얻어 그의 행동을 촉발시키고 그래서 새로운 미래 세계 - 하나님 나라 - 로 나아가게 하는 것이다. 본 연구 의 성과와 가치는 한국교회의 성장과 그 궤를 함께해온 실증(實證)된 전도 방 법론을 두 가지 전도패러다임으로 정리한 데에 의미가 있다. 그동안의 전도에 관한 연구는 대부분 단편적(斷片的)이거나 공시적(共時的)인 연구였다. 아니면 연구자의 주관적 잣대를 가지고 전도방법론을 분류하기도 하였다. 하지만, 본 연구는 통시적(通時的)인 안목에서 전도의 큰 흐름인 개인중심의 전도와 교회 주도의 전도를 구분하여 연구를 진행하였다. 그리하여 한국교회의 미래 전도 방향성을 내다볼 수 있도록 하였다.
