Studies of Christian spirituality have been performing through various methodologies depending on the primary concerns of those who begin it. While some its nature and features, others focus on the analysis of its relationship to outer phases, emerging effects and social function. Any discussion to decide for which method is more appropriate is somehow meaningless. Both methods help strengthening the academic value and authenticity and the recent trend that emphasizes incorporation and commensurability prefers coexistence rather than any exclusive selection. Furthermore, the fact that the historical foundation of Christian spirituality itself verifies the emphasis on incorporation and commensurability is the decisive element to finish the unnecessary controversy. Based on the above argument, this study goal is to perform analysis and anticipation of the Korean churches by exploring spirituality as hermeneutical task and medium beyond the understanding of a static entity. To do it, this study discusses in detail about the contents and functions of hermeneutics and its change related to media culture in the current society. So this study underscores a social function of spirituality, means a collateral procedure for incorporation with any dissimilar subject, and support an inductive method which such social function leads the concept and nature of spirituality. One would expect that this methodology would contribute to a constructive discussion for the Korean ministries and the development of spirituality itself.

기독교 영성에 대한 연구는 수행 주체의 주요 관심에 따른 다양한 방법론을 통해 전개된다. 영성의 본질과 특성에 강조점을 두는 이들이 있는 반면, 외부 현상이나 파급효과 또는 사회적 기능에 중점을 둔 관계성 분석에 주력하는 이 들도 있다. 어느 방법론이 우월한가의 논쟁은 사실상 무의미하다. 양자 모두 학문적 가치와 정당성 강화에 도움을 주며, 융합과 교류를 강조하는 최근 흐름 은 배타적 선택보다 공존을 선호하기 때문이다. 더욱이 기독교 영성 자체의 역 사적 기원에서 교류와 융합을 통한 공존이 강조된다는 점은 불필요한 논쟁에 종지부를 찍는 결정적 요인이다. 위의 주장을 바탕으로 본고는 정적인 실체로서의 이해를 넘어 한국교회의 진단과 예측을 목표로 구성된 해석학적 작업과 소통의 매개 즉 미디어로서의 영성의 내용을 탐구했다. 그를 위해 해석학의 내용과 기능은 물론 해석학적 변 화가 현대사회에서 미디어와 결부된 모습을 구체적으로 논의했다. 따라서 본 고는 영성의 사회적 기능을 강조하며 이질적인 영역과의 융합을 목표로 전개 되는 통전적인 과정을 뜻하고, 그런 사회적 기능들이 영성의 개념과 본성을 규 정하는 귀납법적 과정을 밟았음을 지지한다. 이처럼 다양한 사회적 기능의 융 합을 통한 영성이해는 한국교회의 목회는 물론 영성 자체의 발전을 위한 건설 적인 논의에 공헌할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
