This article is an exploration of understanding and the utilization of transference and counter-transference in the process of Christian counseling. The aim of this study is to examine the reality where Christian counseling becomes ineffective and distorted as relational dynamics have not been understood fully or undermined, and it is to emphasize the importance of transference and counter-transference and to suggest their utilization in the Christian counseling process. For this, this article looks into the concepts of transference and countertransference, their unconscious and dynamic characteristics, and their importance in the counseling process. It suggests that there are significant implications on Christian counseling. Realizing that the counselee projects his or her core emotion to the counselor and the counselor reflects the contents of the counselee’s transference is an important wisdom that makes Christian counseling become more effective. It is essential that the counselor facilitates the holding environment for the counselee to bring up transference, offering an interpretation of it to the counselee and dealing with the counselee’s resistance. This process helps the counselee to have self-insight which gives the counselee healing and growth. This article acknowledges that the Christian counselor’s consistency, expertise and spirituality are important qualities for the counseling process and it emphasizes the counselor’s self-insight. Finally it evaluates the effects of the utilization of transference and counter-transference while it does not fail to notice the limitations of it.

본 논문은 기독교 상담의 과정에서 전이와 역전이의 중요성을 인식하고 활 용방안을 탐색하는 연구이다. 연구 목적은 기독교 상담에서 인간관계의 역동 성을 제대로 이해하지 못하거나 그 중요성을 간과함으로써 상담을 효과적으로 이끌지 못하거나 왜곡시키는 현실을 점검하여 그 중요성을 강조하고 활용방안 을 구체적으로 제시하고자 하는데 있다. 이를 위해 먼저 전이와 역전이의 개념 을 이해하고 이의 무의식적이며 역동적인 특징과 그 진행 과정을 살핀 후에, 기독교 상담의 상황에서 전이와 역전이의 중요성을 탐구하고 있다. 그 결과 전 이와 역전이는 기독교 상담에 중요한 시사점과 접합점이 있음을 발견한다. 상 담관계 안에서 내담자가 핵심감정을 상담자에게 투사하고 상담자는 이를 받아 서 역전이하는 방식을 인지하는 것은 기독교 상담을 효과적으로 이끄는 중요 한 지혜이다. 기독교 상담에서 전이를 일으킬 수 있는 환경 조성과 역전이를 통한 내담자의 전이 내용을 해석해 주는 것, 그리고 내담자의 저항을 잘 다루 는 것은 매우 중요하다. 이러한 과정들은 내담자가 자기 통찰을 할 수 있도록 도우며, 이를 통해 궁극에는 내담자를 치유와 성숙으로 이끌기 때문이다. 본 논문은 전이와 역전이 과정에서 기독교 상담자의 일관성과 숙련성과 영성이 상담의 질을 좌우하는 중요한 요소라고 보고 상담자의 자기 통찰의 중요성을 역설한다. 마지막으로 본 논문은 기독교 상담에서 전이와 역전이 활용의 효과를 정리하고 평가하면서 이의 한계점들을 간과하지 않는다.
