The purpose of this research is to verify the mediating effect of career commitment and exhaustion in the relationship between the emotional intelligence and job satisfaction of elementary school teachers. To achieve this purpose, 219 elementary school teachers were sampled as the subjects of this research. The results of the correlation analysis showed that emotional intelligence, career commitment, exhaustion, and job satisfaction had significant correlations with each other. It was found that the higher the emotional intelligence of elementary school teachers, the lower the psychological exhaustion became and that raising career commitment enhanced job satisfaction. Also it was found that career commitment and exhaustion had significant mediating effect between the emotional intelligence and job satisfaction of elementary school teachers. Based on the results of this research, the implications, limitations, and proposals of this research were discussed.

본 연구는 초등학교 교사의 정서지능과 직무만족의 관계에서 직업몰입과 소진의 매개효과를 검증하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 초등학교 교사 219명을 표집 하였다. 상관분석 결과, 정서지능, 직업몰입, 소진, 직무만족은 모두 유의한 상관이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 초등학교 교사의 정서지능이 높을수록 심리적 소진이 낮아지고, 직업몰입을 높여 직무만족을 향상시키는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 직업몰입과 소진은 초등학교 교사의 정서지능과 직무만족 간에서 유의한 매개효과를 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 초등교사의 직무만족에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 수 있도록 초등교사의 정서지능 강화와 소진 예방 및 관리를 위한 지원이 필요함을 시사한다.
